National Hospice and Palliative Care Month is celebrated every November to raise awareness about the importance of comfort, quality of life, and talking with loved ones about preferences as we age and become seriously ill.
Today, the staff and volunteers of Rainbow Community Care would like to pause a moment to express our gratitude to the thousands of patients, families, and healthcare professionals who have placed their trust in our hospice teams since 1990. Together, we have turned Jefferson County into a place where a higher percentage of people choose to involve hospice in their final days, weeks, and months than anywhere else in Wisconsin!
Likewise, we’d like to thank the many people who have turned to our palliative care team for help when navigating the complex world of serious illness. When we first launched this community-based program a decade ago, we only cared for about 13 patients and families a day on average. Today, that number has increased to nearly 160!
