Erin, our chief nursing officer, and Justine, our director of therapy operations, had a blast at the National Director of Therapy Operations and Chief Nursing Officer Meeting in Chicago! This event brought together CNOs and DTOs from across Encompass Health to collaborate on best practices, strengthen partnerships within clinical teams and deepen their understanding of each other’s roles.

We’re thrilled to share that Robert Delong has been named Physical Therapist of the Year by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Rhode Island! Robert is an extraordinary physical therapist who brings years of extensive knowledge to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Johnston. He is deeply passionate about student programs and made it a priority from the start to build a robust learning experience for future therapists.Just five months after we welcomed our first patient, Robert served as the clinical instructor for our first physical therapy student. Since then, he has grown the program and guided several students through it with dedication and excellence.

Congratulations, Robert! This award is truly well deserved, and we couldn’t be prouder of you.

Meet Susan! Susan is a mother and wife who came to Encompass Health Johnston for inpatient rehabilitation after she fell and fractured her skull. From the moment she began her recovery, Susan was determined to regain her independence and return home to her loved ones. Her progress has been extraordinary. With the support of her care team, Susan learned to stand, walk and manage daily tasks on her own.

During National Facilities and Engineering Week, we proudly celebrated the engineers who designed our hospital building, as well as our facilities staff that maintains it and keeps it beautiful. A special thanks to Sharon, our FMD, who ensures our kitchen and EVS departments are operating smoothly. John, our maintenance mechanic, goes above and beyond to maintain the integrity of the building, both inside and out!

Designed for survivors and caregivers, this group offers a welcoming space to connect, share experiences and access support, services and resources.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and every Friday we encouraged staff to wear pink — paired with jeans for a little fun — to raise awareness and spark conversations about statistics, resources, early warning signs and more.

We recently hosted an award ceremony to celebrate two major accomplishments earned by our incredible team members: the Outstanding Employee Achievement Award and advancement on Encompass Health's Clinical Career Ladder.

Liz, a registered nurse technician, received our third Outstanding Employee Achievement Award. More than 30 employees were nominated, but Liz stood out. She consistently embodies all our core values regardless of the challenges the day may bring. Congratulations, Liz. This award is truly well deserved.

We also recognized several clinical employees who are advancing on our Clinical Career Ladder, an Encompass Health program that helps employees grow their careers.
