Colorectal cancer awareness month is nearly over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t schedule your screening once the calendar changes. Cologuard every three years or yearly iFOBT (immunochemical f***l occult blood test) for for people with average risk for colon cancer. Schedule a colonoscopy for people at higher risk (polyps, strong family history, inflammatory bowl disease). Your family doctor can help you determine your personal risk. Signs and symptoms of colon cancer (bloating, bleeding, bowel habit changes) should not be ignored. Unfortunately they often appear late in the game; early detection before symptoms arise is best! Your family doctor can answer your questions and help you choose the screening method best for you.
