Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is the flagship hospital of Conemaugh Health System, a member of Duke LifePoint Healthcare and the largest healthcare provider in west central Pennsylvania, serving over a half-million patients each year. The hospital's main campus offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient health care services including 24/7 emergency room services; cardiology; cancer care; behavioral medicine; diabetes care; gastroenterology; hematology; maternity care; pulmonary care; general, orthopedic and thoracic and vascular surgery; imaging and interventional radiology; women’s health and obstetrics. The program, entering its 13th year, is designed to equip and prepare current and future leaders within the health system to prepare them for leadership roles. Participants partake in foundational leadership skills through mentoring, job shadowing, field experiences, and professional development opportunities throughout the calendar year.

Thinking about a career in medicine? 🩺

Conemaugh Health System is now accepting applications for the Class of 2026 Mentoring in Medicine program. This 10-week, paid summer internship offers hands-on experience as students shadow physicians, explore multiple specialties, and learn what it truly takes to become a doctor.

The program is open to rising college juniors or seniors majoring in pre-med, or first-year medical students who live in Cambria, Somerset, or Bedford counties. Only 10 students are selected each year so don't hesitate to get your application. Applications are due February 14, 2026.
