Across Pennsylvania, advocates answer crisis calls, accompany survivors to hospitals and courtrooms, provide counseling, and deliver prevention education in schools.

These services are essential — but they require sustainable funding.

Today Rep. Kinkead elevated the voices of survivors and pushed for the investment our communities need.

“The state budget is a moral document and we are not sending the right message to sexual assault survivors by making this funding a political football” – Rep. Kinkead

Do the right thing and fully fund survivors.

March is Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Awareness Month, and this year we’re shining a light on something many people don’t realize:

Brain injuries caused by domestic violence are far more common than most people think.

Survivors may experience traumatic brain injuries from:
• blows to the head
• strangulation
• being violently shaken
• being pushed into objects

These injuries are often invisible and undiagnosed, yet they can affect memory, concentration, emotions, and daily functioning.

Many survivors aren’t “forgetful,” “distracted,” or “overreacting.”
They may be living with the lasting effects of brain injury.

This graphic shares 7 things survivors wish people understood about brain injury.
Listening, believing, and responding with compassion can make a powerful difference.

Throughout March we will be sharing information about:

🧠 recognizing the signs of brain injury
🧠 why screening matters
🧠 how communities and professionals can better support survivors

Let’s raise awareness about the invisible injury and ensure survivors receive the support they deserve.
