Joy Brill, surrounded by love of her family under the loving glow of the Namaqua Heart, lost her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer as she
departed this life in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 14, 2026.

Vickie Joy Gardner was born on March 12, 1952, in Los Angeles to parents Art McKay and Ila Margaret (Graham) Gardner. Joy was a true Southern Californian girl, with stunning pale green eyes and long strawberry blonde hair. She often told stories of growing up in Burbank and Hollywood,
speaking of people she met along the Sunset Strip before they were famous.

Joy married young, moving to Colorado then briefly back to Southern California, before settling back in Northern Colorado, where she raised four children with her first husband Richard. While her children were young, Joy created holiday magic. From handmade Halloween costumes to a beautifully orchestrated Thanksgiving, and over-the-top Christmas decorations and gifts, the holidays were her thing.

While Joy enjoyed a satisfying 30+ year career as a Real Estate Broker, she also served on the board of directors for the Loveland-Berthoud Association
of Realtors (LBAR), elected Board President in 1998-1999. Joy also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children (CASA) for many years.

Joy went on many road trips with her children. Joy’s response to her children asking, “where are we going” was often “crazy, wanna come?” Additionally, playing her favorite songs and albums on repeat at an elevated volume may have contributed to some later in life hearing loss.

Joy was also a lover of books, salads with blue cheese, “nice cookware,” citrus desserts, playing games (board and video), gardening and playing
the slots. Mostly, she enjoyed time with family.

In March of 2006 Joy remarried, the love of her life, Warren Thomas Brill at the Foothills Unitarian Church in Fort Collins. She passed, sadly, just before their 20th wedding anniversary. Joy enjoyed watching her husband, a talented composer and musician, perform while chatting with friends. He
found inspiration in Joy, composing a number of songs inspired by her. Together, they completed their family with the adoption of Janessa.

Thankful to have shared her life are her husband, Warren, her children; J. R. “Brian” (Finity) Steving IV, Thomas “David” (Anya) Steving, Tawny Ursel
(David) Duckworth, Erika Leigh (Chris) Hartmann and Janessa Andrea Brill, her 12 grandchildren; Indiana, Ila, Isaak, Wyatt, Taya, Mitch (Carissa),
Hayden, Reese, Katie, Molly, Azalea and Amaya, and incredible stepfather, David Kirk.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation will take place and Joy’s family will host a private family gathering at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to “House of Neighborly Service” in care of Young’s Funeral Service, 102 E. Charlotte Street, Johnstown, CO 80534. Please share condolences at youngsfunerals.com.

Don and Suz Roquet passed within 9 days of each other in October.

Their family remembered the camping trips, hanging out at the old Elks club and golf course, their poker and Bridge card clubs, daily crossword and sweet rolls.

The granddaughters recalled fun shopping trips with their grandma, having her homemade margaritas and helping where needed.

We give thanks for their service to church, community and family.

Alice Marie Durward Drotar, 94, died January 13, 2026 in her home in Northglenn, Colorado with family members in attendance. Alice Marie was born on April 22, 1931, in Boulder, Colorado to Lawrence and Annetta (Andre) Durward. She graduated from Boulder High School and attended the University of Colorado, where she met her husband George Drotar during chemistry lab. They were married on January 31, 1952.

She was a mother of 12 children and a homemaker. Her purpose in life was to take care of both her children and, when needed, her grandchildren. She preserved food, sewed clothes, quilted, crocheted, knitted and embroidered to make sure her family had what they needed. She taught these skills through 4-H for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Drotar, her granddaughter Rebecca Snyder, her parents, Lawrence and Annetta Durward, her brother Dr. James Durward, and her sister Louise Kraus.

She is survived by two sisters Florence Rickman and Kathryn Harris, and twelve children, AnnaMarie Drotar, Leonard Drotar, RoseMary (Drotar) Bindel, Teresa Drotar, Debora (Drotar) Naftz, Martha (Drotar) Amey, Janet Drotar, Timothy Drotar, Arthur Drotar, Karen (Drotar) Osborne, Ellen Drotar, and Benjamin Drotar. She has 34 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren.

Alice Marie embraced her role as a mother. She welcomed everyone into her home and fed whoever was hungry. Holidays were important gathering times for family but could include whoever was alone and needed a welcoming place. Sometimes these celebrations at Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and Easter would include about 50-100 people. She was a long-time volunteer to supply reception meals for funerals at IHM. She especially enjoyed making dinner rolls for them. She was involved with the school district where she participated in defining the gifted and talented program, and in hiring school Principals. She expected her children to achieve, but was very protective of them. She encouraged them to explore and find their own areas of accomplishment be it science, music, trades, or business. All her children were active in band, 4-H and sport. She helped other children as part of the Helping Hands movement where any child who needed help could knock on the door of a house displaying a hand sticker and know it was a safe place. She helped many children this way.

Our mother had the kindest and most loving heart. We loved to hear her sing while preparing food and during long car trips. We learned so much from her; she was always thinking of the needs of others before herself. She had the ability to keep track of 12 or 13 schedules, all at once and to be there to help anyone.

The Funeral Mass be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Parish, 11385 Grant Drive, Northglenn, CO on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with a lunch to follow in the parish hall. 01/03/2026

During the late afternoon of New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, Ronald “Ron” Lloyd Lewis peacefully took his final breath at the home of his granddaughter, Ashley, in Milliken. He was 87 years old.

Ron was born on March 9, 1938, in Longmont, Colorado, to Lloyd Newton and Cleone Eloise (Lawson) Lewis. Because his father worked in highway construction, the family moved often, and Ron quickly learned how to make friends wherever he landed—a skill he carried with him throughout his life.

In Berthoud, Ron met Doris Eleanor Zoller, and on January 31, 1960, he married the love of his life. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage built on hard work, devotion, and plenty of laughter. Their bond was deep and enduring, and Ron missed her dearly after her passing on August 8, 2025—not long before he followed her.

Ron spent his life in agriculture, work that fit him well. At just 27 years old, he reached one of his proudest accomplishments—buying his own dairy in Galeton, which he and Doris operated together. After later moving to LaSalle, he raised and butchered rabbits and often helped neighboring Valley Packing, rarely coming home without a summer sausage, ham, or bacon in hand. He also raised beef cattle over the years. Ron took pride in honest work and always found a way to enjoy it.

Ron loved old Western movies and his coffee gatherings at the Double Clutch Café and Country Inn, where he and his friends shared stories, laughs, and solved the world’s problems more than once.

Ron and Doris were longtime members of LaSalle Community Church, faithfully worshiping and serving until their health no longer allowed them to attend.

Those grateful to have shared Ron’s life include his children, David (Karen) Lewis and Michele (John) Melito; son-in-law Steve (Joyce White) Hunt; six grandchildren—Melissa (Byron) Harlow, Ashley (BJ) Cummins, Matt (Michayla) Hunt, John Melito, Alicia (Joe) Walsh, and Samantha Melito; seven great-grandchildren; and his sister, Pat Wagner. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Lewis; his daughter, Vicki Hunt; his older brother, Gene Lewis; and his parents, Lloyd and Cleone Lewis.

At Ron’s request, a private family inurnment will be held at Johnstown Cemetery, where he and Doris will be laid to rest together. Memorial gifts may be made to LaSalle Community Church in care of Young’s Funeral Service, 102 E. Charlotte Street, Johnstown, CO 80534. Condolences may be shared at youngsfunerals.com
