UPDATE: 4 weeks post transplant

It’s been a month since the transplant and Nolan is continuing his recovery. His incision sight is healing nicely and Sandys’ Kidney is doing it’s job. Nolan’s labs continue to be up and down, but we are told it’s normal and expected.

Sandy is still healing and dealing with some discomfort and has her 1 month follow up tomorrow.

UPDATE: 14 days post transplant.

Just got home from another check up at the hospital. Nolan is doing great. His incision is healing very nicely and he has just a little lingering pain. His creatinine numbers keep going up and down as his body adjusts to Sandys’ kidney. Everything is still looking good. Just have to get the meds dialed in and let his body heal.

As for Sandy, she is still experiencing pain in her recovery. But being the strong Mom she is, she is fighting through it and still healing.

Thanks for all the support. If you could continue to like, share and donate to the GoFundMe it would be greatly appreciated. The copay on his meds is quite a lot. We are seeking other options for some relief, but until then we still could use the support

Update: post transplant day 7 & 8

Just been relaxing and recovering at home the last 2 days. Yesterday’s Nolan’s creatinine was in the “normal”range. He hasn’t been in the normal range ever before now. Super Exciting!!! So over joyed for this great news.

His immunosuppressant level was a little high, so they backed off on the medication a bit.

Back to the hospital Thursday morning, will update after that.

As always, thank you for your support

UPDATE: Day 4 post transplant

More progress made today with hopefully a minor blip in the recovery.
First the blip. Nolan’s creatinine number went up today. From 1.3 to 1.49. Drs. hoping a it’s an anomaly and watching closely.

Today’s plan was rest, movement and education.

Both therapists occupational and physical stopped by.

The pharmacist and post transplant coordinator met with us about important post discharge medication plans and check up visits.

Nolan will have to have labs done 2x a week for first 2 months. Along with weekly clinic visits. The road doesn’t get easier just yet.

Hoping for discharge tomorrow or Sunday, dependent on labs and Nolan eating. He has been experiencing some side effects from the immunosuppressants, nothing major just upset stomach so far.

Nolan really wants to come home more than anything at this point, so hoping that becomes a reality soon.

Again thank you for your support.

UPDATE: Day 3 Post Transplant

Nolan continues to astonish with his recovery. With more progress made today.

Moved out of ICU to regular room. Kidney function almost to “normal.” Up and walking even more. Down to just 2 IVs.

Sandy making progress as well. Still in pain, but she keeps moving and assisting Nolan. She is amazing!!

Sandy had the great idea to decorate Nolan’s room with some pretty cool stuff that will be moved to his room at home once discharged.

I printed some pictures and framed them for them as well as keepsakes.

Hopefully a good nights sleep is in store for both as rest is key to recovery.

Keep the good thoughts and prayers coming, they are working.

Please continue to support the cause.

UPDATE: Day 2 Post Transplant

Today was a good day. Lots of advancement towards discharge.

Medical teams made their rounds and each had good news. Most importantly Sandys’ kidney is as kick ass as you would expect. Filtering like it’s no bodies business putting out 7 liters of urine in the morning. The surgeons were impressed to say the least. Nolan was up and moving by mid morning due to earlier visits by the occupational and physical therapist who came by one after another. Around lunchtime we received more great news. The catheter, mainline IV and the arterial IV were coming out. The removal of the catheter was most exciting as Nolan…really, really hates them. The main line IV was also bugging him a lot and preventing him from moving his neck. He even got a little goofy afterwards (see pics). You know he’s feeling better….
The good news kept coming as next we where told he was being moved out of ICU and would be in a new regular room as soon as one was available!

Just an overall great day 2 post transplant.!!!

Nolan, Mom and Dad could all use a good nights sleep tonight, so let’s hope that happens and we are able to tackle what tomorrow brings us.

Finally. A quick thank you to all of you for keeping Nolan in your thoughts and prayers and demanding updates. We love you all and appreciate all of the support. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💚❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️‍🩹❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

*** just learned the first not so great news of the day. …. The beautiful flowers that Sandy received following her surgery were not saved as promised. Upon moving to the new room (2033), Sand asked for her flowers to be delivered (they weren’t allowed in the ICU) only to discover that someone threw them away!!! Let’s see what we can do about that. 💔
