Existential Counselor Society

Existential Counselor Society Counselors Dedicated to Changing Minds and Changing Lives All people are entitled to experience the highest level of human functioning.

The basic needs such as love and belonging, safety needs, and physiological needs must be met in order for a person to develop high self-esteem eventually leading to self-actualization or the ability to define in one's life, and find the answer to the question "WHO AM I?"

In order to achieve wellness a person must have a mastery in all four realms of human existence (self, society, biology, and spirituality). A concern in one area leads to a person experiencing anxiety. Anxiety is a normal aspect of life, but neurotic or problematic anxiety debilitates causing a sense of paralysis in achieving one's goals and desires

Today marks an important milestone; the vote passed to expand services at Existential Counselor Society, and with it, our first freestanding women's program focused on substance use and trauma.
This victory belongs to the community. To everyone who spoke up, showed up, and believed in the need for trauma-informed, women-centered care… thank you. Your advocacy, courage, and commitment made this possible.
This program represents more than expansion; it represents access, hope, and thoughtful care where it's been needed for far too long.
As we look toward 2026, I'm excited and deeply honored to support the building of something that will change lives and strengthen our community for years to come.
Grateful for the collaboration, the trust, and the shared mission ahead.
A special thanks to Silver Oaks Behavioral Hospital , Will County ROSC, Crossroads Counseling, Grundy BHA, Hartgrove Hospital, Acadia Healthcare, Chicago Behavioral Hospital and all who showed support.

We see you.

It’s the day after Thanksgiving, we took time to reflect on what we are thankful for and it was beautiful.

In recovery, gratitude isn’t just a holiday sentiment, it’s a practice that’s transforms our struggles into strength.

As we move into December, let’s carry that spirit forward, focusing on the progress we’ve made on the bright future we are building together.

Every day here is a step towards a healthier, more fulfilling life. Let’s keep pushing forward…together.

💙 November is Men’s Mental Health Month 💙
At ECS, we’re reminded every day that strength isn’t about staying silent—it’s about speaking up and reaching out.

If you or a man you love is battling addiction, anxiety, or depression, you’re not alone. Healing begins the moment you decide to take that first step.

✨ This month, let’s break the stigma.
✨ Let’s remind men that asking for help is courage.
✨ And let’s stand together for recovery, resilience, and hope.

We’re here when you’re ready.

ECS is all about the breakthrough.
This quote is a great reminder that the hard times are often the ones that help us grow the most. It can be tough, but eventually, we'll break through to the light.
