As we approach Valentine’s Day, we’d like to shed some light on heart health! February is American Heart Month and there isn’t a better time to check in with your cardiovascular health than now.

Despite the leaps and bounds that have been made in treatment and prevention, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. According to the American Heart Association, lifestyle factors and chronic conditions such as physical inactivity, obesity, diabetes, and hypertension continue to drive risk. That is why early screenings, patient education and heart-healthy habits are key to reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Heart screeners may be ordered by your physician if there are risk factors such as family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking, obesity, diabetes, and a high stress lifestyle. At Future Diagnostics Group, we offer a few heart screenings such as a carotid artery screening ultrasound and abdominal aortic aneurysm ultrasound. 🌸 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 🌸

Did you know that breast cancer rates have dropped by 44% in the United States since 1989? This is due to Breast Cancer Awareness Month helping to raise awareness of breast cancer throughout the US. It encourages millions of people to take action, which resulted in advancements in treatment & research and increased early detection.

1 in 8 women in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer throughout their lifetime. In 2025, an estimated 316,950 women and 2,800 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, and an additional 59,080 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed. When caught early, the 5-year survival rate is 99%. There are over 4 million breast cancer survivors in the US due to advances in early detection and treatment.

Early detection is key for treatment and survival rates. It is recommended for women 40 and older to have a mammogram every year. Women 40 and under who have genetic risk factors for breast cancer are also recommended to have a mammogram or another type of exam. Even women who have no symptoms or known genetic risk factors should have annual mammograms to help detect breast cancer as early as possible. Mammograms can often show a breast lump before it can be felt.

Dense breast tissue can also increase the risk of breast cancer and can make lumps harder to detect on mammograms. Illinois has a Dense Breast Law that requires mammogram reports to state if a patient has dense breast tissue. Having dense breast tissue is normal, over 40% of women have it. At FDG, we offer an automated breast ultrasound for dense breasts. This exam is recommended for patients with dense breast tissue to have along with their annual mammogram to improve early detection.

About Us:
Future Diagnostics Group is an independent medical imaging center committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care with advanced diagnostic technology. We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated CT Technologist to join our growing team.

Responsibilities:
• Perform high-quality CT scans following established protocols.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process.
• Collaborate with radiologists and other medical professionals to deliver accurate and timely results.
• Maintain imaging equipment and report any technical issues promptly.
• Adhere to all regulatory standards and facility guidelines.
• Obtain guidance from the radiologist and/or referring physician when order appears unclear or inappropriate.
• Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.

Qualifications:
• ARRT certification in CT required.
• Licensure by the State of Illinois (IEMA).
• Minimum 1-2 years of CT imaging experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and patient care skills.
• Proven venipuncture skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment, and the ability to work independently without specific supervision in a self-confident manner.
