It was a beautiful day to host the Area 7 Special Olympics Bocce tournament! We had a great turnout and lots of medals were won! Thats a win for everyone!!! Thank you Arvest Bank for cooking for everyone! Thank you Frito Lay for providing chips! Thank you to Beverly Lee and Theresa Gates Book for being our faithful fearless leaders! And Special thanks to all our volunteers, coaches and especially our athletes!!!!

Focus, Inc. is looking for a janitor to provide services between 3 sites. This will be a Monday-Friday, full-time position. Minimum wage. Must have own, good reliable transportation as well as ability to pass drug and criminal backgrounds. For our cooking skills classes, participants are learning everything that goes into planning, shopping, and preparing for a meal. This week Sierra and Candace worked with a group and they decided to make a fresh salad as part of our lunch today. They planned out everything they would want in the salad and how much they would need to purchase to feed the number of people we would have to feed. The next day, they went to the store and shopped for their ingredients. Today, they prepared the delicious salad for everyone. Love seeing them excited about what they are doing!

Shout out to John Gatlin aka Karaoke Man!!! He came for Karaoke day but in pure Mr John fashion, he just jumps in and starts helping with the car wash! Thank you John! You are immensely appreciated!!!!

Car Wash Day 2 is in full swing!!! Why are we doing a car wash? Well, we are raising money for our participants to be able to do more activities at the center and in the community! Monies raised also helps us buy Christmas presents for them at the end of the year. However, my absolute favorite part about doing fundraising that our participants can help with is the fact that they feel important. They feel invested. They have EARNED the money coming in for them. As one told us yesterday, "I have never in my life washed a car! I'm having so much fun!" THAT IS WHAT WE ARE ALL ABOUT!!! EMPOWERING! COMMUNITY!

We are out today 9-1! $5 or any donation appreciated! Come see these smiling faces! Plus we have DJ John on site today! 3701 S Caraway Rd!
