I had the extreme pleasure to attend my daughters' career day. Probably something a lot of community midwives in Georgia wouldn't do since our careers are under constant threat!

But I loved the opportunity. I taught 4 classes of 4th and 5th graders about the precious work of community midwives.

I also learned a lot from them. Kids are ao wild!🤣

1st- Kids know a Lot more about pregnancy than we believe. We touched on subjects of pregnancy loss, rainbow babies, c-section and how babies receive nutrients from mom. I did not attempt to "dumb" it down for them. Straight information!

2nd-Kids, especially boys, want to know more about the process and their role in it. Especially since it seems more related to women's health. They asked what the male partners role in it. They asked so many questions about periods! Lol that really shocked me.

I talked about the uterus and it's role. Only a few were grossed out. Lol even the teachers had questions!
Overall it was an amazing day for me!

Today, Midwives made an unprecedented move to change Georgia legislation.

Today the Center for Reproductive Rights has filed a lawsuit against the State of Georgia on behalf of Midwives to change the archaic law that restricts Midwives from practicing.

This journey! This journey!

I am coming to nearly a close in a chapter and opening a brand new book!

With only a few babies to come earthside, I will be finishing homework, traveling to gain some new skills and spending time with my family!

I am grateful for this journey has molded me into the Midwife I will be and so many amazing examples for how to be it! I move with no urgency as I savor these fleeting moments!

And with that I will be working to get midwives licensed in Georgia and supporting future midwives.

Hi All👋🏾

I'm a local student midwife in Georgia!

As some may know and others may not, Georgia does license all midwives. Georgia midwives have come together to introduce legislation that will license midwives and give us the opportunity to practice legally and autonomously! While the legislation session has ended, legislative efforts ramp up!

But we need help from the community! Moving bills takes money, and the more you get, the further you go. To help Georgia Midwives pay for a lobbyist to advocate for us in the Capitol, we are asking for monthly donations!

For $5 per month, less than iced coffee, you can help us continue our fight!!!

On Feb. 5th, 2025. Several midwives, doulas, families, and supporters went to Georgia State Capitol to advocate for licensure! It's was 50+ of us talking to legislators and moving through the Capitol to bring awareness to the need to expand access for Georgia families to adequate homebirth and women's health providers!

And right alongside of me was my mama, ! She had no idea why she was there at first, but that didn't stop her from coming along, throwing on a t-shirt, and showing up for me and Georgia families! And when sat with her and talked her through it, she was even more ignited in her support!

This is the support we need, not just midwives and birthworkers, but families and citizens all around because the value of this work is insurmountable!

Thank everyone for showing up. Thanks to .nacpm.midwives and for leading the charge to gain licensure and decriminalization for ALL MIDWIVES !
