A Milestone in Heart Care for NEA Baptist Structural Heart ❤️
One year after launching the TAVR program at NEA Baptist, we are proud to announce the successful implantation of the first Medtronic Evolut™ FX transcatheter aortic valve in Northeast Arkansas, performed by Dr. Lena Awar.
Aortic stenosis is a serious heart condition that often goes undetected, until symptoms become severe. With TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement), we offer this life-changing treatment right here at home, including for patients who may not be candidates for open-heart surgery.
By working with all major heart valve companies, we can select the best option for each individual patient — allowing our team to truly personalize care rather than offer one-size-fits-all solutions. New research, including the SMART Trial, suggests that in smaller heart valves — more commonly seen in women — self-expanding options like Evolut may offer meaningful benefits.
If your primary care provider has ever mentioned a heart murmur, don’t ignore it. A simple cardiology evaluation can make a big difference and may even save your life.
Most importantly, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve our community by bringing advanced heart care closer to home, so patients can remain near their families and support systems while receiving the care they need.
Mark your calendars for ❤️ Heart Day at NEA Baptist (Conference Center), Fri - Feb 13- 9 am - Noon .
Heart screenings will be available, education from our Heart Failure team, Vascular team, multiple vendors as well as our own Cardiologists.
Patients at the Heart- Quality and Integrity above all.
