It is with a heavy heart that I announce the closing of Sotox Yoga and Wellness Center. Due to an unexpected medical issue the last day of classes at Sotox will be tomorrow, April 21. After nearly 20 years of teaching yoga I feel deeply saddened to leave and incredibly grateful to have been here.
Thank you so much to the many massage therapists and acupuncturists who have worked at Sotox over the years. And a very heartfelt thank you to my dear teachers -E.Paul Milam, Amy Ferguson, DJ Duckworth, Leah McKee Hyneman, Julie Morrow, Kim Childers, Marian Peeler, Lynn Howerton, Susan Ishmael, Sarah Clairday, Nikki Haughey, Lisa Newberry Rutter, Ellen McGehee and Bren McCullars. Together we built this crazy dream I had from nothing and I could not be more proud of the yoga community of NEA now.
When I decided my yoga journey was something I wanted to share I could never have imagined where that idea would lead. Because Sotox was the first yoga studio in Jonesboro (no gym yoga either) I spent the first few years not just teaching yoga in my studio but educating the public in general about the what's and why's of yoga. I remember many a visit with some particularly concerned pastors in the area. 😊 Sometimes new is scary but when I look back and see that Sotox Yoga has taught classes at First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Temple Israel, First Presbyterian, First Methodist, ASU Newport, Women's Crisis Center, ASU Athletics, Senior Life Center, Area Agency on Aging, JPS, Success School, Nettleton Schools, Health and Wellness School, Junior Auxiliary outreach programs, PEO, City Team Ministries, and support groups for Parkinson's, breast cancer, blindness and many childhood behavioral support groups I know now that NEA understands the many benefits of yoga and that my dream has been realized.
I have been honored to share time with thousands of students and have learned from each and every one.
And to my beloved yogis- I will miss you. So very much.
Peace and respect from the higher power in me to the higher power in you. Namaste'
