Every year at our annual medical staff meeting, we recognize a colleague who truly embodies the St. Bernards mission of providing Christ-like healing to the community. This recognition, the 'Living the Mission Physician Award,' is unique because it is driven by the voices of St. Bernards team members.

This year's recipient is Dr. Jon L. Thompson. The award was presented by his wife and colleague, Dr. Chelsea Thompson. A dedicated physician, Dr. Thompson has built reputation rooted in compassion, kindness and leadership.

One nomination noted that Dr. Thompson "has one of the best bedside manners and is always putting his patients' concerns first," often explaining care plans until patients and their families fully understand.

Congratulations, Dr. Jon Thompson, and thank you for being an exceptional clinician, teammate and leader!

Congratulations to Urologist Emma Jacobs, M.D. and her urologic procedure team on successfully implanted Arkansas’s first tibial nerve device to help manage bladder control symptoms!

More than 16 million adults in the United States experience Urge Urinary Incontinence (UUI), a symptom of Overactive Bladder (OAB). The FDA-approved device, known as Altaviva™, helps a patient control the bladder by restoring communication between it and the brain.

The device is about half the length of a stick of chewing gum and is implanted near the ankle in a noninvasive, office procedure without the need for anesthesia.

The Physician Living the Mission award is given annually to a doctor who best represents the St. Bernards Mission of providing Christ-like healing. We are highlighting previous honorees as we prepare to announce this year's Physician Living the Mission winner.

Dr. Utibe Ndebbio is the most recent winner of the Physician Living the Mission award, and this will be the last winner we share before we announce this year's recipient.

His nominations included descriptions of his mentorship, kind demeanor, and compassion. Beyond his talent as a physician, Dr. Ndebbio is committed to excellence and leads by example. A true embodiment of our mission, Dr. Ndebbio provides Christ-like healing every day.

Dr. Josh Morrison received the award in 2023. He believes in training the next generation of healthcare providers, preparing young physicians for success. Dr. Morrison is humble, selfless, kind and well-deserving of the honor. Among the many attributes that made him an excellent choice for the award, he is described as an empathetic and compassionate role model for many.

A good listener, a mentor, and attentive are a few of the ways Dr. Chris Brown was described in his 2021 nominations. Dr. Brown does so much that’s unseen because he works at night. Even with his nighttime work hours, his colleagues and patients take notice of the special care and attention he gives to his work.

Dr. John Thompson received this award in 2020. Throughout the uncertainty this particular year brought, Dr. Thompson took on responsibilities above and beyond his role — never complaining. Reflecting on Dr. Thompson, qualities like honesty, giving, loyalty, availability, approachability and professionalism were used in his nominations. Dr. Thompson continues to be a leader and live out our mission every day.

Dr. Ladd Scriber received the Physician Living the Mission award in 2019. Many of the nominations from colleagues, coworkers and friends used words like kind, patient and selfless to describe him. Like many other recipients of this award, Dr. Scriber is known to be a mentor and to go above and beyond for patients and friends alike. We are so grateful for the Christ-like care Dr. Scriber provides every day.

Dr. Devi Nair and the St. Bernards EP team have made history with the first US commercial launch of procedures using the Kardium Globe Pulse Field system, a revolutionary new treatment for atrial fibrillaton.

Dr. Nair, who participated in the pivotal PULSAR study of the Globe Pulsed Field System, recently presented groundbreaking findings of this clinical trial at the 2025 Heart Rhythm Society annual meeting, showcasing an impressive 78% freedom from reoccurring arrhythmias one year post ablation.
