Thompson and Jackson Periodontics and Implant Dentistry is proud to to offer nitrous oxide sedation for our patients.

Nitrous oxide is a very safe form of sedation. It is inhaled and the effects start within a few seconds. It can be adjusted quickly if a patient is too light or too deep. Also, after a few minutes without the gas, it is safe to drive home.

Nitrous oxide makes many people feel happy and warm. It causes a lot of people to laugh so it is often called laughing gas. It is great for sedation when a person is nervous at the dentist. It is also a great pain relief. Our goal is to keep you as relaxed as possible, no matter what procedure that we are performing.

Effective January 1, 2026 our office will no longer be in network with Delta Dental.

We will still file Delta Dental Insurance, but it will pay at an out of network rate.

Here at Thompson and Jackson Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, we are proud to offer periodontal plastic surgery. There are several types of common surgeries that we offer.

✨ Esthetic crown lengthening is a common procedure for those who have a “gummy” smile. It only takes about an hour and is basically a “gum lift.” During a crown lengthening, we will remove excess gum and bone tissue, reshaping your smile and exposing more of your teeth. We can perform this procedure on one tooth or your entire smile! This procedure also helps keep your mouth healthy: by removing some of your tissue, we can help control periodontal and gum disease. It also decreases the pockets between the teeth, giving bacteria less room to hide.

🦷 We also perform functional crown lengthening. This procedure can be either cosmetic or restorative in nature. We usually perform this procedure on teeth that are badly decayed or broken by the roots, or if a patient is unable to get a crown or bridge. We will lower the gum and bone levels, exposing the roots so that they can be restored.

Periodontal disease is very common in adults. It is caused by all of the bacteria in our mouth that forms form plaque on our teeth. Without routine brushing and flossing, it continues to build up, forming tartar.

We diagnose periodontal disease by examining your teeth. A good professional cleaning is necessary to remove the tartar from your mouth and underneath your gums. Sometimes surgery is necessary to help with the deep pockets of infection. Once your periodontal disease is under control, good home care with brushing and flossing should help to keep it from coming back.
