👁️ Herpes Viral Keratitis in Kids – What Parents Should Know

Did you know that the cold sore virus (Herpes Simplex Virus) can also affect the eyes?

👁️‍🗨️ Spotlight on Eye Health: Conjunctival Intraepithelial Neoplasia (CIN) 👁️‍🗨️
CIN is a pre-cancerous growth on the surface of the eye, usually appearing on the white part (conjunctiva) near the cornea.

🔍 What to Look For:
• A white, pink, or gelatinous lesion
• Often found at the limbus (where the white of the eye meets the colored part)
• May grow slowly over time
• Often seen in people with significant sun exposure or weakened immune systems

☀️ UV exposure is a major risk factor—wearing sunglasses and getting regular eye exams can help protect your eyes and catch issues early.

🧪 CIN is typically treated with surgical removal and sometimes topical chemotherapy to prevent recurrence.
