For your tasting pleasure, here is a basic WINTER SANGRIA!!!
This will be much more tart than a summer sangria.
Use any fruits you wish...but the cranberries and cinnamon sticks are a must have.
Pat’s Winter Sangria
1 750 ml red wine (use a Spanish wine like garnacha, tempranillo, or rioja to make it more "authentic, but any dry red will work)
1/3 to 1/4 cup Triple Sec--alcoholic or non-alcoholic (use more if the cranberries are super tart or the orange is more tart than sweet)
1 Orange, sliced or chunked
1 Apple, sliced or chunked--use a sweeter apple but if you really want super tart, use a Granny Smith
1 cup cranberries
1-2 Cinnamon sticks
Combine all ingredients and chill at least two hours, but longer chilling time brings out more flavors. Check tartness level and add more Triple Sec if necessary.
Serve over ice. Let the fruit go into the glass when you pour it.
To make it fancier, dip the rim your glass/cup in apple cider then put that rim in a mixture of 1/3 cup sugar and 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon, shaking off excess.
You can also put a slice of orange or peeled kiwi or whole cranberries on top.
Serve it within 7 days of making it.
