A Slight (2 of 5) to Enhanced (3 of 5) Risk of severe weather is in place across southwest Missouri and southeast Kansas today. Two rounds of thunderstorms are expected this afternoon through tonight. Supercell thunderstorms are expected first, followed by a line of thunderstorms overnight. All hazards will be possible, including large hail, damaging wind gusts, and a few tornadoes.

In just a few days, we've shifted from Elevated Wildland Fire Danger to an Enhanced Risk for Severe Thunderstorms. Stay updated with your favorite weather reports and prepare a plan now so you're not trying to figure it out in the middle of it all.

Thunderstorms are expected on Friday afternoon into Friday night. Potential for several strong to severe thunderstorms. Early indications suggest supercell thunderstorms in the afternoon into the evening, before merging into a squall line by Friday night. All hazards possible, including large hail, damaging wind gusts, and a few tornadoes.

Unseasonably warm temperatures in the 70s along with low humidity levels in the 20 to 35 percent range and southwest winds gusting up to 15 to 25 mph will lead to elevated fire weather conditions. The strongest winds will be northwest of the I-44 corridor.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for a large portion of the area from 11am to 7pm today. Low humidity and gusty winds will create significant fire conditions. Fires can spread rapidly in these conditions.

Gusty southwest winds and low humidity will create elevated to significant fire danger across the area on Tuesday. Afternoon temperatures will warm into the upper 50s to lower 60s.
