Rejection is painful. Abandonment is brutal. Being “not chosen” is unbearable. Often we then have to compensate and protect ourselves. It’s this coping that, while allowing us to survive the moment, can later become itself problematic. Therapy can help to heal the brokenness that results from the original wound so that we can live deeply again.
