DID YOU KNOW? New Directions, Ozark Center’s substance use services program, began serving the community in 1979. Back then, it was based in the original Ozark Center office at 2808 Picher Ave., now the site of the Bill & Virginia Leffen Center for Autism. Later, New Directions moved to McLelland Blvd. and then to downtown Joplin at 305 S. Viriginia Ave., now our Crisis Services location. In 2023, the program moved into its current location at 3220 Wisconsin Ave.

Our Story

Ozark Center’s mission is to improve the health of the communities we serve through contemporary, innovative, trauma-informed, quality behavioral healthcare solutions. With 30 locations across Jasper, Newton, McDonald and Barton counties, Ozark Center serves people of all ages who are dealing with mental illness, addiction, trauma and abuse. Ozark Center includes outpatient services, crisis services, housing programs and residential treatment facilities as well as the Bill & Virginia Leffen Center for Autism. In addition to licensure and certification from Missouri Department of Mental Health, Ozark Center has accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), an independent, international agency that monitors quality in the delivery of mental health services.
