Sacred Spiral Adventures is a small, heart-centered outdoor guiding service in Joshua Tree National Park that offers experiences of spiritual connection in and with the desert wilderness.

We are seeking one to two teacher-guides to lead the following outings:

- Yoga and Hiking in Joshua Tree National Park

-Yoga Under the Stars in Joshua Tree National Park (warm weather only)

- Wilderness Yoga in Joshua Tree National Park

- Soul Meditation in Joshua Tree National Park

Ideal candidates will have:

- a strong background in Yoga and meditation instruction;

- hold a minimum of a 200-hour Yoga Alliance-approved RYT certification, and have at least three years' experience teaching diverse groups of students; and

- show a demonstrated record of working with and leading people in the spirit of joy and ahimsa, with a friendly, service-oriented attitude.

Candidates must also be confident and familiar with the backcountry wilderness setting, with demonstrated knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas:

- hiking, rock climbing, orienteering, mountaineering, or wilderness endurance sports;

- trails and general geography/topography of Joshua Tree National Park;

- love for and familiarity with the Park and the natural history of the high desert is a big plus.

Formal guiding experience is not necessary, but candidates must be willing to study and train if they have not guided outdoors before. In-person CPR and First Aid certification will be required prior to hire.

This position is initially part-time and on-demand, but will grow as guides gain experience. Work schedules are flexible, seasonal, and will vary according to client demand. The Winter, Spring, and Summer seasons are generally busiest. With the exception of the Yoga Under the Stars outing, most work hours will be in the morning, with an average of 3 to 4 hours per session. It is possible to work more than one session per day, if desired.

A bright Beltane (or May Day) to you! Halfway between the spring equinox and the summer solstice, this holiday has many names and associated rituals. All of them celebrate the coming summer Light and rejoice in the Earth's renewed fertility, highlighting the beauty and variety of nature.

The sun's rising arc in the sky and the increasing brightness of our days inspire us to burn off old darkened habits and truths and to be willing to see and absorb what the new light reveals -- sort of an inverted Samhain (or Halloween).

This time of less activity and motion is a wonderful opportunity to allow yourself to step away from repetitive thoughts and technology, and to experience seasonal changes consciously. What does this day mean for you? It is not a metaphor; the Earth is really turning, and you are on it!

You might take at least a few minutes today to:

-Be willing to see something in a new way.
-Be willing to release a pattern that no longer serves you.
-Celebrate the abundance of life.
-Be open to the possibility of change.
-Connect with the ever-renewing powers of the Earth, its plants and animals... and you!

Hello, Sacred Spiral community! I hope you are all safe and well in your part of the world, and I send you loving energy from my little home in the desert. There is a season for everything, and now is one of those times for letting go of expectations and making room to accept what is. Acceptance doesn’t mean inaction; it just means that when action happens, it comes from a more centered, peaceful place. What do we really have control over? Our experience inside. We may not be able to change externals, but that doesn’t matter. Our inner reality is what matters — and if we just get into the present moment, that’s always the safest place to be.
Take care, and remember to notice your thoughts.
Namaste ~ Liz

Hello, Sacred Spiral friends! Later this week, I'll be putting up some practice-at-home yoga and meditation videos to enjoy during this interesting time. What are your requests? Let me know!

I'd like to make these short practices accessible for everybody, so if you don't practice yoga regularly, it would be especially awesome to hear from you. :)
