Your brain is about three-quarters water, making it one of the most hydration-sensitive organs in the body. Water helps maintain the shape and flexibility of brain cells, cushions delicate neural tissue, and supports the constant firing of billions of nerve signals every second.

Water enables these impulses by keeping ions like sodium and potassium in balance, which are critical for nerve firing.
