Adventures in School Social Work / Play Therapy - Stephanie Holloway

Adventures in School Social Work / Play Therapy - Stephanie Holloway I am a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor. I am a Story Play Practitioner. I am a Tricare approved provider.

I love to work with children and families - especially military families. I provide play therapy for children and some adolescents. I have worked for over 20 years with children and families. I am the only Registered Play Therapist providing mental health services in Junction City and Manhattan. I have served on the Kansas Association for Play Therapy for the last three years. I have served as membership chair, conference chair, president, and am currently serving as an advisor to the board. Play therapy is very effective for children because we use the natural language of children - PLAY. Please contact my office with any questions about mental health services/play therapy @ 785 761 3030.

When a child is overwhelmed, the amygdala (the brain’s alarm system) can switch into 'high alert'.
This makes thinking, listening, and problem-solving incredibly hard.
Calm never comes from telling a child to “calm down” — it comes from helping their nervous system feel safe again.
Our The Child Brain Explained can be found at link in the comments ⬇️ or via Linktree Shop in our Bio.

Tomorrow, we’re beginning a new series: Timeline of a Meltdown
We’ll explore what each phase looks like, what’s happening in the brain and body, and how to support a child through every stage — with care, connection, and understanding.

Follow along if this is something you need right now.
You’re not alone in this work.
