Important update on Illinois SNAP benefits!

Following a court order today, the federal government will fund only half of SNAP benefits in November. The federal government’s decision to fund reduced benefits will make it significantly more complicated for states to issue the funds, which will delay November SNAP benefits to households by days or weeks.

Benefits left on cards from previous months can still be used, but new benefits will be less than in prior months and will be delayed by the federal government.

IDHS is exploring how payments will work in Illinois and will keep customers updated on this evolving situation.

Be sure to stop by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) tent at the DuQuoin State Fair this week! There are tons of free goodies including free Narcan.

Yesterday, a pastor told Holly and Chris they had to use Narcan to revive someone at their youth summer camp. They got Narcan from us last year and were able to save that teenager’s life. Narcan saves lives every day! Are you carrying it with you?

We are so thankful for the Hawks Lunch Bunch program that helps fight food insecurity! Feeding over 500 kids in Gallatin County 🧡💙

We are even more proud of our very own Makenzie Golden & Liz Hood for helping deliver meals each week with the Hawks Lunch Bunch.

We wanted to show our appreciation and admiration by providing the volunteers at the lunch bunch a catered lunch. Thank you to Egyptian Health Department and Pleasant Valley Catering for helping us feed these volunteers!🧡💙
