Dr. Eugene Huang is a board certified physician, on-site daily, and available to meet with patients and their family throughout the course of treatment. He leads an integrated team of physicists, dosimetrists, and therapists to ensure the proper delivery of care and works closely with each patient's primary care physician and other specialists to provide a coordinated, comprehensive care plan for each patient. The team at Southeast Radiation Oncology Center is committed to providing H.O.P.E. to patients through a Healing environment, fostered by Open communication, a Patient servant centered approach and Excellence in clinical care. We utilize an Elekta Synergy linear accelerator, an all-digital treatment system, which enables our physicians to deliver a faster, more accurate treatment, with the least amount of radiation affecting healthy tissue.

🎗Across Alaska, we stand alongside patients, families, and caregivers affected by multiple myeloma. While multiple myeloma can bring uncertainty, there is real and growing hope. Advancements in treatment, ongoing research, and strong support systems are helping more Alaskans live longer, fuller lives.

This month, we raise awareness, encourage early conversations, and honor every story. Together, we can continue to bring support and hope to those navigating multiple myeloma.

🌱On this Spring Equinox, we welcome the return of light, even if winter hasn’t quite loosened its grip. This season has tested us. The cold, the storms, the long days in between. And for many walking through cancer care, that weight can feel even heavier.
💚Brighter days are coming, in ways both big and small. We are here with you, through every season. Happy Spring, Alaska! We look forward to the midnight sun and all the wonderful things that summer brings.

💚March is Social Work Month, and we’re proud to recognize our incredible oncology social worker. "This March, we are celebrating one of our most incredible team members, Shirlie, our oncology social worker extraordinaire!
Shirlie is the definition of resourceful. Whether she's coordinating cancer care across the entire state, dismantling barriers that stand between patients and the treatment they need or showing up with unwavering compassion during a patient's most vulnerable moments, she finds a way. Every single time.
No challenge is too complex, no barrier too great. As you would expect from anyone from Kodiak, Shirlie doesn't just connect patients to resources, she becomes the bridge when there isn't one." - Dr. Michael Green

Oncology social workers help patients and families navigate the emotional, practical, and financial challenges of cancer care and Shirlie does it with unmatched dedication and compassion. Thank you for being such an essential part of our cancer care team!

🐾Moose is our Chief HosPAWtality Officer. She is a 6 year old Pomeranian mix. She has a tough work schedule and is in only on Fridays at SROC. Her main role is the patient greeter and protector.
🐶Her favorite spot is looking out the window for her next patient. Moose loves a good scratch and to visit with those in the waiting room.

Patients have the opportunity to direct funds to local nonprofits making a difference in the community and most recently, Aurora Integrated Oncology Foundation contributed $5,000 as a gift, and an additional $800 was designated through patient graduation gifts, for a total of 🌟$5,800 presented to the Southeast Alaska Food Bank. This meaningful gift reflects both organizational support and the compassionate spirit of patients who chose to give back locally.

🩷February is the season of love, and in cancer care that includes protecting what matters most, your heart. AlignRT, the radiation therapy system that we use right here at our clinic, allows radiation treatments to be delivered with greater precision, helping minimize exposure to the heart and surrounding healthy tissue compared to older methods. ❤️This is especially meaningful for patients undergoing treatment for cancers near the chest, including breast and lung cancer, where heart protection is critical. Thoughtful innovation like this reflects our commitment to safer treatment, better outcomes, and caring for the whole person, not just the cancer.

🩷During National Cancer Prevention Month, we’re reminded that in Alaska, where cancer rates remain higher than national averages, prevention and early detection offer real hope. Just as important are the spouses, partners, family members, and friends whose encouragement often leads to screenings, appointments, and care.💗Their love, advocacy, and support are powerful, and they save lives. ❣Happy Valentine’s Day, let your health be part of your love story!
