We’re celebrating a powerful partnership and an even more powerful impact. Southeast Alaska Independent Living (SAIL) has received a Member Impact Fund grant through First Bank partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, bringing a total investment of $52,500 into our communities.

This funding helps us continue incredible work, supporting seniors, individuals with disabilities, and families with services that make independent living not just possible, but thriving. From in home support to advocacy, education, and connection.

We’re deeply grateful to First Bank and FHLB Des Moines for helping fuel this mission and for believing in the strength of Southeast Alaska communities.

Small Change, BIG impact.
This new changing station removes a significant barrier, fostering a more inclusive community.

New universal changing table — the first at a public facility in Juneau — an example of ‘a seed being planted’ that may spur further growth on issues affecting the disabled, advocates say.

Disability rights are not special rights. They are human rights.

Every person deserves the freedom to live, work, participate in their community, and dream without barriers. When we remove obstacles for people with disabilities, we create stronger, more inclusive communities where everyone can thrive.

Join advocates, community members, and allies for the March to the Capital & Key Campaign Rally as we come together to stand up for disability rights across Alaska.

📅 Wednesday, March 18
🕚 11:45 AM
📍 Meet at Sealaska Heritage Plaza

This year’s priorities are:
• Build a system that doesn’t need a waitlist.
• Serve more kids ages birth to three in the Infant Learning Program.
• Require universal changing spaces in public buildings.
• Modernize Alaska’s guardianship statute.
• Improve access to transportation.

Your voice matters. Advocacy matters. Community matters. Let’s show up together and continue building a world where accessibility, independence, and opportunity belong to everyone.
