As 2025 comes to a close, many of us naturally begin to reflect — what went well, what was hard, and what we wish had turned out differently.

At Grateful Heart Counseling, we want to remind you of this: a year’s worth is not measured only by goals met or boxes checked. Growth often happens quietly, slowly, and beneath the surface. Sometimes simply surviving, staying present, or asking for help is meaningful progress.

As you look ahead to a new year, it’s healthy to set goals and hopes—but not from a place of discouragement or self-criticism. Instead, we invite you to move forward with curiosity, compassion, and grace for yourself. You are not behind. You are human. And every new season offers fresh opportunities for healing, learning, and renewal.

If 2025 held disappointment, let that be information — not condemnation. And if it held victories, let those be reminders of your resilience.

🌨️December is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) Awareness Month 🌨️

SAD affects about 10 million Americans each year, with women diagnosed four times more often than men.

Symptoms usually begin in late fall or early winter when daylight hours shorten — and typically improve in spring.

Common symptoms include low mood, fatigue, changes in sleep or appetite, and loss of interest in things you normally enjoy.

Treatment works — light therapy, counseling, and sometimes medication can significantly reduce symptoms.

You don’t have to walk through it alone — help and healing are possible.
