It’s difficult to be a Christian parent in the world today. There are multiple temptations for our children when they use the internet, turn on the television, view social media, or see casual advertisements at the store. Sins are downplayed and overtime our little ones may become desensitized to the danger scripture warns us to avoid. God shows us how to intervene when our children stumble. We must forgive, shower them with unconditional love and clothe them with spiritual protection.

Celebrate recovery at First Baptist Church Justin would like to partner with you during difficult times every Tuesday night 6:15 a dinner is served the Worship.

God is not disappointed with you or unhappy with you or angry at you. He actually has fully accepted you in Christ and sees you righteous, forgiven and perfect forever. His desire for you to improve or overcome a sin does not equal disapproval until we do. He is able to fully love us, favour us and embrace us even while we haven't yet overcome our weaknesses! It takes FAITH to accept this kind of love.

Verses like this one can be challenging in the best way, but they can also trigger our shame. Let us help you reframe this in your mind.

We may read this passage and hear, "Wow, I feel terrible about myself. I can't believe you said that the other day! What's wrong with me? I seem to be the same old person I was before. This is why I need to work harder to tame my tongue. Maybe make a punishment system so I'll finally get in line."

What if, instead, you read this passage as, "Wow, this is a beautiful reminder of who I really am. I've been forgetting who Jesus transformed me into, and thinking I needed to do things the old way. Who I really am isn't someone who puts down other people or name calls. Who I really am values and honors *everyone*, because I know they're the handiwork of my incredible, glorious God! I want to live out of that fresh water stream James describes, the one Jesus permanently put in my heart. What an encouraging reminder."

How does this change this set of verses for you?

Freedom is found in knowing that God loves and accepts you.

When you know beyond all doubt that you are your Daddy’s delight, you will be free from the need to please others. The pressure to perform will lift and the unholy expectations of men will seem ridiculous.

“My Father is pleased with me. I don’t have to prove a thing!”

If thoughts of rejection should enter your head, you will dismiss them without a care. God is for me! Who can be against me?

Manmade religion says you have to work hard to make yourself acceptable to God, but the good news declares that in Christ you have been made acceptable for eternity. Nothing you do can make you more or less pleasing to God than you already are.

There’s nothing you can do to make him love you more, and nothing you can do to make him love you less.

FEELING UNAPPRECIATED The motivation for acts of love comes from Christ in us. But, heck, we still carry unspoken expectations that they’ll show us appreciation in return. Not everyone. Just those important to us. Occasionally, everything conspires against you. You get left out, snubbed, or overlooked. Others get credit for something you did (the evil one knows your exact susceptibilities). One day, worn out from doing good, you find yourself feeling bitterly unappreciated. From that moment, it twists into feeling unloved. This can be stopped in its tracks as you allow another in. God uses other people to protect and reorient our hearts. You verbalize it. Even if you feel ashamed, your trusted friends rarely will. Letting them hear the truth, and any untruths, allows sweet magic to happen. The cycle of victimization can stop. You can then accurately grieve being overlooked, while no longer turning it into more. The next time you feel under-appreciated, tell a friend, “I’m feeling discouraged and could use a reminder of the good work God is doing in and through me.” 2 Thessalonians 3:13
Trust for today.
Who knew that telling on yourself to a trusted friend could be so powerful?
I encourage you to try it the next time you are in a messy mindset. So liberating!

Matthew 11:28-30
The Message
28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

In grace you might stumble and fall, but praise God, you're stumbling and falling on your way to total victory and dominion!

“I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to finish—the very works that I am doing—testify that the Father has sent me. And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me…” ~Jesus

John 5:36,37

We all have a story to tell, it’s just, some of us never tell it. Either because we are ashamed of it, embarrassed by it, or because the plans for our story didn’t pan out how we wanted them to, we hide it. But all of us have a story to tell–our story is our testimony.

The most important testimony of all time is Jesus’. His testimony changed eternity.

SO tell YOUR story. We need it. There is someone out there right now, who is waiting for it. Your testimony about what Jesus has done in your life is the key to unlocking the strength they are looking for. Your story is what will show them what confidence in Christ looks like. Be brave. Begin to tell your story, today.

Ok, got to share a praise report!
I started going back to a small grace teaching church and I invited my "adopted" granddaughter, Nicole, and her fiance to attend a couple weeks ago. Her mom and my daughter are best friends. I've known Nikki since the day she was born and I've always been "Papa Kev" to her. Long story short and without details, we had a family "blowout" a couple years ago and I had been harboring some lingering unforgiveness. But God.
Her and Justin want to get baptized this weekend. The pastor at Grace for Eternity reached out to me and asked me if I'd like to baptize them. As I write this I am getting teary eyed. What an absolute honor. I am so humbled to be be able to do this. God is so good and so faithful!
