As Maui County is being challenged with another surge in COVID cases, we want to remind our community that if you are experiencing severe COVID-19 symptoms, like shortness of breath, please come to our Emergency Room. Maui Memorial Medical Center (MMMC) has protocols in place to keep our patients safe including an outdoor screening tent for patient check-in, COVID-19 testing of all patient admissions, and isolation procedures for COVID positive patients.

We also want to remind our community that MMMC is NOT A COVID TESTING SITE. Our Emergency Department provides COVID testing for patients who need emergency care for severe COVID symptoms or other medical emergencies. If you have mild or moderate symptoms and do not need emergency medical care, please instead call your doctor, and/or get tested at a community testing location.

If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 or start experiencing COVID-like symptoms, please get tested right away. The sooner you know whether you are positive or not, the sooner you can take appropriate steps including staying home from work, notifying any friends or family you’ve recently had close contact with, and making an appointment with your doctor if symptoms start to progress. You may also qualify for outpatient COVID treatment. Please do not wait until you need urgent medical care. Instead, be proactive, get tested, and isolate yourself until it is safe to return to normal daily activity.

For more information, including a list of testing sites, outpatient COVID treatment, and when to seek emergency care for COVID-19 symptoms, visit mauihealth.org/covid19.
