Curiosity in Motion - New Zealand Retreat

Day 6: Light Your Fire

Today was all about finding those things to do that allow us to reconnect with our passions, values, and purpose. Rediscovering activities that brought us joy as a child can reignite that same enthusiasm as adults. Today was dedicated to doing just that...fueling our fire with loads of super fun activities.

We started the morning with yet another delicious breakfast before heading to for our final day of pole camp. We worked on progressions from figurehead before learning the rest of the choreo for the next day's sunrise video shoot!

After pole, we made our way back to the awesome town of Rotorua where our adventures began. Putting some fears to the test, we rode the gondola high above the town to for an incredible buffet lunch with a view! After we had our fill, we practically raced to the luge where we donned our helmets and hit the track. We raced down the hill in little go carts, flying around corners and screaming with joy. After taking the lift back to the top, we gathered our things and headed for the next stop.
rotorua is a unique adventure attraction where visitors roll down a hill inside a giant inflatable ball. It is the original and only location in New Zealand for this wild activity! We got our swimwear on and dove head first into a giant ball with water inside before racing each other down the steep tracks. So much fun!!

After the dizziness subsided, we dried off and made our way to for an unbelievable cultural experience dedicated to the Maori people. We learned about their geothermal land, saw a kiwi, ate dinner to the backdrop of an exploding geyser, watched a traditional haka, toured a artisan institute, and so much more!

What an incredible day of joy and discovery. We made our way back to our accommodations, excited about all we had done and what was still yet to come.

Meet your Acro Instructor, Rob. For 30 years, Rob has been immersed in the world of acrobatics and cheer while sharing his knowledge and extensive experience with people of movement. After being a cheerleader for Drexel University, the Philadelphia Soul Arena Football Team, and the Philadelphia 76ers NBA Team, he coached the co-ed cheerleading team at Temple University and has taught Acro at various festivals and workshops across the US, South Africa, Singapore, Japan, and Taiwan.

His enthusiasm and passion for acrobatics have driven him to create various programs and events. He collaborated with Aqua Vida to introduce SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboard) Acro in Philadelphia and has developed Pole Acro and Aerial Acro Workshops. You may have seen him on stage at various competitions, choreographing Acro Dance flows, or performing at multiple venues. Utilizing his skill sets, he and his team of talented Acrobats, Aerialists, Polers, and Dancers won the coveted Diamond G String Award in 2018.

Rob has organized numerous acro workshops and co-hosted Acro Intensivals featuring World Champions and Cirque du Soleil coaches. He also founded the PhillyAcro program, providing a platform for intermediate and advanced level acrobats to learn and share their skills as well as introduce beginners to the wonderful world of Acro. He left his job in tech to pursue his passion of Acro and even started a high-end clothing line for acrobats, pole dancers, aerialists, and yogis. You can also find him behind the lens as he promotes his pole photography.

Some may recognize Rob through his Acro project of lifting 10,000 people in various acro poses worldwide. With over 9,970 different people being lifted already, he is close to his goal and has inspired and empowered many through his challenge.Β If you would like to be lifted, there will be an opportunity to be part of the movement after each workshop.Β
