"We are stronger than we know and peace is closer than we think" ๐Ÿ’—

โœ Walking Through All Conditions - Our walk takes us through sun and rain, dry roads and wet, through snow and warmth, through noise and blessed silence, through crowds and quiet solitude. Some days are gentle and kind. Some days ask more of us than we expected.โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹ Some days surprise us with unexpected beauty or unexpected challenges.

And isn't this just like all our lives?

There are times when everything flows smoothly, when the path ahead feels clear and our steps feel light. And there are timesโ€”perhaps some of us are facing this right nowโ€”when the road feels rough, when obstacles keep appearing, when we feel cold or tired or uncertain about what comes next, making it hard to take even one more step.

The weather of our lives changes without asking permission. Sunny moments give way to storms we didn't see coming. Ease gives way to struggle. Joy and difficulty sit side by side in our hearts. We cannot control these shifts, no matter how hard we try. We cannot demand that life only bring us gentle days.

But here is what we can do, and it changes everything: we can choose the path of peace for our minds, even when our circumstances feel anything but peaceful.

When we make this choiceโ€”when we gently commit to being mindful with our breath and our daily actions, when we practice being present instead of fighting what isโ€”we discover something that feels like grace. We find a peace within that the changing conditions cannot shake, cannot steal, cannot destroy.

The rain still falls, but we are not swept away by it. The rough path still asks us to be brave, but we do not lose who we are. The noise still surrounds us, but we are not drowned by it. Because beneath all of it, there is something in us that remains steady, quiet, whole.

This is the peace that lives beneath all circumstances. It doesn't depend on perfect weather or smooth roads. It doesn't require everything to go our way. It simply asks that we show up for ourselves with kindness and mindfulness, breathe as consciously as we can, and meet whatever comes with gentleness instead of harsh judgment.

Life will bring sun and rainโ€”that is simply its nature. But peaceโ€”true, lasting peaceโ€”is not found in controlling the weather around us or within us. It's found in learning to walk through all of it with minds that stay as grounded as we can, hearts that try to stay open, and spirits that whisper to us on the hardest days: this too shall pass, and we are still here, still breathing, still whole, still capable of choosing peace.

We are stronger than we know. And peace is closer than we think.
May you and all beings be well, happy, and at peace.

๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–" Let's do the vulnerable and compassionate thing, remove ourselves from the center of the Universe, and put others there instead. ๐Ÿ™"

Here is an illustration of the problem with the Golden Rule (to treat others the same way we want to be treated). The Golden Rule is well-intentioned, but it is short-sighted and out-dated.

The Platinum Rule, on the other hand: treating others the way THEY want to be treated, accounts for our differences, takes other people into consideration, and acknowledges that we don't all like or want the same things.

In this illustration, if the dog had followed the Golden Rule, he would have gifted the cat a bone or a chew toy. But, a mindful gift does NOT treat others the way we want to be treated, it invites us to remove our personal preferences from the equation altogether, and take others into consideration.

This isn't about gifts, cats, or dogs, of course, my intention is remind you (and myself) that making assumptions about other people based on our limited world view is narrow-minded and often wrong. Let's do the vulnerable and compassionate thing, remove ourselves from the center of the Universe, and put others there instead. ๐Ÿ™

One thing I love to do with my clients, especially anxious overthinkers, is to play the positive what if game! We go crazy big and have so much fun coming up with positive and fun things. Having fun and reprogramming the brain at the same time! ๐Ÿ’–

What would be your positive what if scenario today?

Happy Monday! We would love to introduce you to our newest team member Brittney Young! Brittney has immediate openings for in person or telehealth sessions.

A little about me: I was a graphic designer for my first career and went back to school at 47 to get my master's degrees in educational design and counseling. I got into counseling when working for the university, finding I loved assisting college students. When not in session, I am an artist and an antique/boutique dealer. I love watching British mystery shows, lounging with my cats and my partner, and enjoying a hot cuppa. My art mediums vary day-to-day from multi-media assemblage, painting, and jewelry.

I believe in your inherent capacity for growth, self-understanding, and change. If you are currently experiencing anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, or other mental health challenges, together, we can focus on a path to improve your experience. I bring a wealth of life experiences, creativity, and counseling modalities to my practice. My main goal is to assist you holistically on your life path, helping you grow your coping skills and behavioral awareness, find your strengths, and define your future. I understand how hard it can be to reach out for help and navigate our health system. I am here to help you!

If you are looking for an appointment with Brittney or anyone here at True2U Counseling, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to support you in any way we can. ๐Ÿ’–

Let's use growth vs "be better" or "change who I am" or whatever phrase you might be using that shows a negative outlook on who you are now. Who you are in this moment is amazing!

We all have room to grow and learn as individuals and should always be learning and growing as individuals. If there is something you aren't happy with or don't love about this version of you, that's ok, you are still amazing! ๐Ÿ’–

So how do you want to grow this year? If we can help in that growth let us know!

Before you jump straight in to telling yourself how to be better this yearโ€ฆ

Before you look in the mirror and tell yourself how to look better this yearโ€ฆ

Before you write down all the things you plan to do better this yearโ€ฆ

Maybe take a moment to sit with the person you are right now. The one who has gotten you this far.
The one who has helped you over however many hurdles and shared with you so many successes.

Maybe take a minute to recognise all of the ways you are already so much better than you realised.

Recognise your strength,
your courage,
your kindness,
your resolve.

And hold on to that.
Donโ€™t discard the you that got you here.
Donโ€™t shame her,
guilt her,
doubt her.

But love her instead.

And maybe youโ€™ll realise
that - despite what you first thought -
there isnโ€™t quite as much โ€˜betteringโ€™ to be done
after all.
