Warm(ish) weather comes to Michigan and that means outdoor activities! Our friends from the Old Log Trail home got out and about earlier this week to check out the Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery and Visitor Center. And of course, what would an outing be without a sweet treat!

Our Portage home had an awesome Saturday!

Individuals served spent the day cheering on the Kalamazoo Wings and then headed over to Airway Lanes for some bowling fun. Outings like these are all about enjoying new experiences, building relationships, and being active in the community.

The activities and celebration came from World Down Syndrome Day and organized by our friends at @ , where we celebrate inclusion, joy, and individuality, echoing our mission at CLO.

And that's a wrap! Our staff and consumers had the opportunity to attend the Arc's 19th Annual Inclusion Conference last week. The Arc offers resources, training, and education to promote how we can all promote inclusivity in different aspects of our lives, whether that's in a social setting, education, the workplace, or even policy making. We look forward to attending next year!

We love talking about our services and how we help our local community. Come find us at the CLO booth and learn how we provide best of class care to those we serve!

We're excited to attend the 19th Annual Inclusion Conference today! We encourage both individuals served and staff to attend to learn more about inclusivity, community-building, and fostering relationships here in Kalamazoo. Keep a lookout for us :) !

The luck of the Irish was with us at the Alcott Center today! Individuals served and staff had a BLAST doing a little Irish Jig, decorating green glasses, and doing some other St. Paddie's day activities.

March marks Women's History Month! In 2026 the theme is Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future.

To commemorate the occasion, staff and consumers from our Portage home and Alcott Day Program learned a little about some influential women in history and wrote letters to women in their lives that inspire them!

Monday blues got you down? Not at our Day Program! We had some drum therapy this weekend to brighten our moods and play some tunes. Our friendly drumming team will be back on the 11th!

Every year our local police officers from the Portage MI Dept of Public Safety - Police & Fire visit for a meet and greet with our individuals. They had chocolate milk and orange juice while eating donuts (no pun intended!) There’s coffee for the officers and this event always reminds us that our local police force are people too and everyone needs a nice pick-me-up every once in a while.

It's a great event to help educate the police about our population. It gives them some understanding about how we serve our individuals with respect and dignity that hopefully they can take with them while they are serving the Portage community as well.
