I’ve been busy for as long as I can remember. My eldest child will be 30 this week so probably at least that long. But the last few years have been relentless. Building a business takes all of me. So things just get pushed aside.
It used to be silly things like not having time to iron the dinner napkins. What a luxury! Now I can’t remember the last time I saw a doctor - it had to be before Covid. Not great self care.
But I’m trying so hard to put systems and staff in place this year that allow me to do the important things again. And maybe some frivolous things, too.
Today I took care of a little-yet-big item that’s been nagging at me since 2020. When I bought this building in the first summer of COVID nothing was really functioning and the deed was never recorded with the city. I figured they’d find it in a pile somewhere eventually but that didn’t happen. So today I got a copy from the county and registered it with the city so I’m the official owner of record of my building. I bought it on land contract in 2017, then paid off the land contract with a loan in 2020, then paid off the loan in 2025. And now all the paperwork is recorded and I’m legit and official and I worry a little less that something could happen to rob my children of all my hard work if I suddenly die.
So a little, not very time consuming thing to be honest, but a big self and family care step that needed to prioritized.
And I got my nails done, too.
I hope you’re doing good things for you today.
I’ll be back in the shop with Kat tomorrow. We hope to see you.
