Our new program, Family Care, is looking for adults interested in caring for young children for 6-9 months. These youths will have access to intensive mental health treatment while their biological caregivers learn effective parenting techniques.

You, as a Family Care Home, will be licensed as a temporary safe place for these youths. You’ll have access to 24/7 support, in-the-moment coaching, weekly support, and training to help you understand your role with the youth in your home.

If you are interested in being a Family Care Home, visit our website to fill out the inquiry form https://fcsource.org/inquiry-form/ or email us at fostercareinquiry@fcsource.org

Just before the holiday season, the Paw Paw Post of the Michigan State Police called to ask if we had families in need of a shopping trip to help with holiday shopping.

6 families were treated to breakfast, compliments of Walmart, and $1000/each to shop with, compliments of the Michigan State Troopers.

It was a really special day for some of our client families! We are so grateful to Walmart for loaning us some of their employees to help with the shopping and for the donuts and beverages. And really grateful to the State Troopers for supporting the community in such a concrete and compassionate way!

CEO Diane Marquess and Director of Clinical Services Susan Davis are a part of The Coordinating Council TCC Issue Action Group for Mental Health, a part of Calhoun County Summit Pointe. The goal of their action group is to review important community data related to mental health, create goals to improve mental health outcomes, and work collaboratively to carry out those goals.

One of our Visions as an Agency is that mental health services are available to those who need them. Though we are facing serious head winds with cuts to mental health services and Medicaid, joining groups like The Coordinating Council TCC will help us reach that vision.

This year's "Christmas in the 'Burg" was a bit chilly, but we are so grateful for the community of Vicksburg for inviting us to participate and talk about our mission and impact!

Special shout out to Sunset Lake Elementary's PTSO and the parents who donated so many toys for our holiday store!

Holiday Giving 2025 served over 3,600 clients! The impact of the generosity of Holiday Giving donors cannot be underestimated. These clients and families had not just basic needs met, but basic holiday joys as well.

We are so grateful to each and every one of you who were matched with clients, who gave to our holiday store, or who donated cash to help purchase items for clients. Because of you, thousands of your community members had a holiday season to remember. Thank you!

*If you would like to be contacted about joining our Holiday Giving program next year, email Tesi Klipsch at tesi.klipsch@fcsource.org to get on our (nice) list!

Holiday Giving 2025 was a huge success, thanks in part to our incredible volunteers. Over the course of 2 months leading up to our final drop off day, we had volunteers wrapping gifts, decorating the gym, helping unload and load gifts, and purchasing items for clients.

We were truly humbled by the outpouring of support we received by community volunteers. They helped this program that served thousands of people go off without a hitch!

Thank you so much to all who gave their time and talents; we appreciate you!

Last week our Families First team had a holiday pajama day.

Families First offers families intensive, short-term crisis intervention and family education services in their homes for four to six weeks using the Families First of Michigan model. Workers are available and accessible to the family 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The worker helps the parents identify their needs and strengths with regards to parenting, and then develop a plan with them to meet their children’s developmental, physical, emotional, educational, medical, and safety needs.

It’s hard but important work, so we’re thrilled the team took a day to get comfortable and do a bit of team building before the holidays.

This week we celebrated the holidays with our all staff holiday event! We had great food by Maggie's Catering, a dynamic team building (and build up) segment with Gabriel Giron from Speak it Forward Inc - complete with a rock, paper, scissors competition, and holiday decorating offerings.

Our team works so hard all year; it is such an honor to give them a few hours to re-connect and play! Thank you to all of our staff who took the time to come and made it such a fun event!

*Thank you especially to Heather Videto and Penny Dapser from the Development team who decorated and organized the event!

Courtenay VanderMolen, Director of Development, and Heather Videto, Resource Development Coordinator, recently attended a meeting of the Kalamazoo Log Cabin Quilters (KLQC) where they ate delicious food and accepted donations of the lovies that members had made for our clients.

We are in awe of their talent and their ability to harness that talent for such good! Thank you so much, KLQC members for reminding our clients that they are so loved this season!
