Today is Western Michigan University’s annual Giving Day, a single 24 hour period where we’re all about driving up support for programming across campus! We are focused on the future at the WMU Therapy Dog Clinic. As I become fully certified and start taking the lead in many of our services, we are looking at sustainability and even growth! I’ve been rocking a diaper this past week (first heat), but will hopefully be back to work soon! Thankfully I don’t mind it much. I’ve been getting lots of cookies and extra family snuggles, so that helps.

I love that I've been welcomed into the treatment space of the Resiliency Center for Families and Children at Western Michigan University's Unified Clinics from puppyhood. Being able to train, socialize, and in effect, apprentice, under Sunny and Poppy has provided an excellent foundation for carrying on the work in support of local youth receiving mental health and occupational therapy services!

Interested in therapy dog work but not sure where to start? This is an excellent short course aimed at building quality and consistency in the basic manners necessary. I should know...the curriculum is heavily based on my training over the past year! Successful completion will line you up well to move into the WMU Therapy Dog Clinic's full six week therapy dog preparation program!

Pupdate: Class is full! However we added a 2nd one, 5:30-6:30, same days!!

Trying a little something new! In partnership with TipTopTails Dog Training, we’re offering a primer to our full therapy dog prep curriculum. This is specifically geared toward folks with pups that would benefit from just a bit more training. Success here will fulfill the prerequisite (typically a Canine Good Citizen evaluation)!
