Happy Clinician-of-the-Week! 🥰 This week, meet Rebecca Cook, MA, LPC, LMFT, CCATP, ASDCS. Read her bio below for more information ⬇️:

Helping you find freedom, clarity, and connection. Therapy doesn't have to be stiff or serious all the time. Yes, life can be overwhelming and complicated, but we can talk about it in a way that feels human. I show up in the room as a real person - warm, open, curious, and not afraid to crack a joke or gently call you out when it's needed. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, relationship issues, identity exploration, or family dynamics. I am here to walk with you - not in front of you. Together, we will create a space that is honest, flexible, and uniquely yours. I bring a mix of humor, honesty, and heart into my sessions. You'll get support, but you'll also get challenged. I'm not the therapist who nods silently - I'm engaged, responsive, and always aiming to create a space where you feel seen. Therapy with me is all about collaboration and connection - between us, and within you.

I believe therapy works best when it is rooted in authenticity, freedom, and connection. You get to be fully yourself here - messy parts and all. There's no pressure to show up as anything but human. If you are tired of pretending everything is fine, or just need someone who "gets it", I'd love to connect - let's make something that actually works for you.

Do you feel stuck? Are you struggling to navigate challenges in your life, relationships, or work? Does it feel like you are just trying to stay afloat instead of engaging fully in your life? If so, you are not alone! Many of us have these feelings at some point. The good news is that you do not need to feel this way forever! Each of us has a choice to make about the type of life we want to live, and therapy is a great place to begin exploring our options, welcoming change, and reclaiming our power to choose. As Tolkien wrote, "all we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us".

As a therapist, my goal is to create a supportive and safe space where you can foster self-awareness, explore those parts of yourself you’ve long rejected or ignored, and connect with your inner strength and sense of self. Sometimes therapy involves exploring those areas of your life you would normally shy away from and I strive to be a partner as you take those brave steps toward self-discovery. I cannot do the work for you, but I can travel alongside you on your journey.

I am a graduate of Western Michigan University with my Master’s degree in Social Work with a focus on holistic health and mindfulness. I love working with adults to address anxiety, trauma, life transitions, identity and self-esteem concerns and personal growth. I use a variety of trauma-informed therapeutic approaches, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and somatic therapies. I will work with you to identify the strengths you already have while introducing practices and concepts to help you craft your own path toward growth.

I am currently accepting new adult clients and would love to meet with you to see if we would be a good fit to work together.

🌿Happy Clinician-of-the-Week day! Meet Brandon Michael McKinney, MA, LPC, NCC. Read his bio below to learn more about him:

I believe that although many clients have similarities, each client is different and deserves individualized intervention strategies. I can assist each client in developing their specific box of tools to address their personal issues and to meet their counseling goals. I believe that the best view of therapy is a holistic view. A hammer is an effective tool until a wrench is needed. A toolbox with many diverse tools has the best chance at repairing a multitude of concerns.

In the first session I inform you, as well as each client, that even though I have my licensure, my degrees, my education and my experience; this is my first time meeting you. You know more about your life than I do, which makes you an expert in the room. What I have to offer is simply that. Offerings. I will offer evidenced based strategies as well as experimental strategies that are tied to Art & Science. I do not insist. I do not demand. I make offerings and we work together to pinpoint what strategies will work best for you. All work that is done in session is done as a team.

I am a fully licensed Professional Counselor and I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Based CBT, Motivational Interviewing, as well as many other modalities.

I received my B.S. in Psychology, as well as my M.A in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling, from Western Michigan University. I am also a National Certified Counselor.

I serve a diverse population of clients, and ensure accessibility to all clients, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. I ensure that client confidentiality is honored at all times.

Thank you for allowing me to sit with you and allowing me to hold your sacred truths.

My goal as a counselor is to create a safe and inviting atmosphere that will allow you to work toward better personal mental health and wellness. Making positive changes in our lives is one of the hardest and yet most rewarding things we can do. I want to empower and challenge you to discover what changes will work best for you. I want to walk alongside you and help you to see your goals clearly so that you can have success in reaching them while finding some relief from the stress in your life.

I have a Master's degree in mental health counseling and doctoral level training in marriage, couple and family counseling. I have been practicing since 2011 as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in both university and private practice settings. I enjoy working with adults, couples and older teens (16+) from all backgrounds and cultures. In addition to my counseling work, I help run a nonprofit organization and teach part-time at WMU in classes focused on relationship skills and promoting overall physical and mental health.

There are some things that most of us struggle with at different points in our lives, such as relationship struggles, life transitions and issues with work and employment. I have extensive experience working with these issues and feel confident in helping my clients make progress. Additionally, I specialize in understanding relationship patterns, trauma, stress and coping with anxiety.

I always say that the first step toward any meaningful change is awareness, and that’s the first step I want to take with you as we begin the counseling process.

What is often needed to overcome challenges or find a more joyful way of living is someone who can help us look at things from another angle. Whether on a personal growth path or working to transform a relationship, a different perspective can be life-changing.

My approach is person-centered and experiential with couples and individuals. My orientation is systemic and existential - that means we will look at dynamics and patterns, and together we'll explore actions, feelings, beliefs, and strategies to help you consciously shape your life and build the nourishing relationships you want. When we look back, it's in order to move forward with joy and purpose.

I value authenticity, kindness, and curiosity. I’m a little swear-y, I believe laughter is healing, and I think humans are magnificent. Stories are special and often sacred - how we tell them, and to whom, matters.

This is a newish chapter for me - a long-time educator/artist, I returned to school and earned a degree in counseling. I understand what it is to navigate change - it can be exciting and scary! I am passionate about supporting others through choice points and transitions to help them create their favorite lives.

Whatever counseling journey you’re on – relational or individual, a big adventure or a quiet re-envisioning - I'd love to travel with you!

I am open to seeing individuals, couples, and families who may be struggling with a variety of issues or concerns. I have over 12 years of experience in working with children and specialize in working with children and adults on the Autism Spectrum or who have ADHD. As the Director of Autism Services at Meaningful Connections, I run and supervise social skills and support groups for both adolescents and adults who are on the Autism Spectrum or struggle with social anxiety.

I am particularly interested in working with families who may have a family member with disabilities and are looking for support, as well as those who are struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, and parenting issues.

I have also completed the Building Warriors training, and am specially trained to be a support to First Responders of all kinds. The wealth of my experience so far has been working with police officers and I have really enjoyed supporting the first responder community.

Finding someone to trust and confide in with life’s demands can be challenging. To put yourself out there and say, “Here are my problems,” can be intimidating and scary. It is my hope to create an environment where you will feel safe, free from judgement, and comfortable to explore and better your life. My goal is to help you on your journey to self discovery, growth and happiness. You are your greatest teacher and together my hope is for us to achieve your greatest potential.
