As a Pharmacy Technician, he helps prepare customized medications and supports our workflow to ensure prescriptions are compounded accurately and efficiently.

Outside of work, Louis enjoys art and sports—bringing both creativity and energy into his day-to-day life.

The mortar and pestle has been part of pharmacy practice for centuries, and it continues to play an important role in modern compounding.

Depending on the formulation, it may be used to grind, crush, blend, or mix ingredients. In this case, it’s helping to blend ingredients to create a smooth consistency—carefully mixed by hand to support consistency and precision.

💜 Inside the Lab: The Magic of Motion

Watch as two separate ingredients transform into one perfectly smooth and uniform product in just 30 seconds! The Maz machine uses a unique planetary motion—rotation and revolution—to mix and remove air bubbles without blades. This helps ensure consistent formulations and reduces the risk of under- or overdosing.

Developed in 2016 for pharmacy compounding and now used in wellness industries, we’ve been using the Maz since 2020. With years of experience, we rely on it for precision, consistency, and high-quality results in every preparation.

As part of our compounding team, she brings over 20 years of pharmacy experience and a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to patient care. Not all the magic happens inside a capsule.

These hot plates are a daily part of our compounding process — used for controlled heating and magnetic stirring.

The gentle spin you’re seeing is created by a small magnetic stir bar inside the beaker. As the hot plate generates a rotating magnetic field, the stir bar moves, allowing solutions like sterile water to mix evenly and consistently.

Why does that matter?

Uniform mixing supports accuracy, stability, and consistency in compounded preparations. Whether dissolving powders or preparing sterile components, precision at every step matters.

Inside the Lab: Why Measurement Matters

Compounding requires accuracy at every step, beginning with precise measurement.

The analytical balance in our lab allows us to weigh ingredients with a very high level of accuracy. In customized medications, even small differences can affect consistency and performance.

Equally important is cleanliness. Our balance and surrounding surfaces are cleaned and disinfected between every compound to prevent cross-contamination and protect the integrity of each prescription.

By carefully weighing and preparing each component according to established formulas and procedures, we help ensure every preparation meets the quality standards our patients and providers expect.

Evergreen Compounding Pharmacy is the Flathead’s first compounding pharmacy. It’s history is rich, and the experience of our staff is unmatched in the valley. Evergreen Compounding Pharmacy is a locally owned and operated independent compounding pharmacy specializing in bio-mimetic hormones including personalized thyroid dosing, specialized topical dosage forms, veterinary medications, along with high quality, scientifically-backed supplements and nutraceuticals.

Meet the NEW OWNERS!

We would like to take a moment and introduce the new pharmacist owners, Erin and Harley Brotherton.

Erin C. Brotherton grew up in Polson, MT, graduating in 1995. She completed her pre-pharmacy requirements at Carroll College in Helena, and received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Montana in December of 2000. She went on to complete a pharmacy residency at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK, then moved back to the lower-48. Since 2001, she has worked in a variety of fields within the pharmacy profession, including retail, hospital, ambulatory care, addiction treatment, long-term care and managed care. Many years ago she developed a passion for complimentary and alternative therapy options, and learning how they can be married and partnered with modern medicine options to provide people with the best, holistic approach to health. She is bringing that passion with her into this new venture. Her nine years at United Healthcare, overseeing the Medicare business as the Clinical Programs Coordinator, gave her a unique perspective on the state of the healthcare system in this country.

Harley J. Brotherton spent the majority of his formative years in Kalispell. His family moved back to Moses Lake, WA, after his sophomore year in high school to help care for his grandparents, who were facing many health issues. He graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1992 and received his bachelor's degree in zoology from the University of Washington in 1997. He went on to earn his Doctor of Pharmacy from Washington State University in Pullman, WA, in May of 2002. Harley has worked in retail, clinical hospital, hospital management, ambulatory care, managed care, and long-term care. He also worked as a graduate intern in England, which gave him first-hand experience within a health-system other than that within the United States. As the Pharmacy Services Manager overseeing the commercial benefits at United Healthcare, as well as his many years in administration at a hospital, he, also, has developed a unique perspective on healthcare that he brings with him to the benefit of our community.

With these perspectives, they are excited about the opportunity provided by compounding pharmacy to impact patient care using an individualized approach, while helping people focus on their health and wellness as a priority

Between the two, they have a combined 34 years of pharmacy experience and knowledge in many practices within the field. They bring a unique partnership to the business, being a husband and wife pharmacist team with different passions and gifts that compliment each other. They are excited about the opportunity to serve the greater Flathead Valley through the use of their skills and experience, and see compounding and wellness as a solution to many of the issues that plague our modern healthcare model.
