This holiday season, Logan Health Children’s was proud to partner with Whitefish Credit Union to offer a Sensory-Friendly Santa experience for families in the Flathead Valley.

By eliminating long lines, bright lights and loud noises, this event created a calm, supportive space where children and adults could visit with Santa at their own pace and comfort level.

Logan Health Children’s recently received a creative gift from the Artists and Craftsmen of the Flathead (ACF) — an arts and crafts cart called, “ The Doodle Buggy.”

“We are grateful to the Artists & Craftsmen of the Flathead for their generosity and thoughtfulness,” said Amy Rohyans Stewart, Child Life Supervisor at Logan Health Children’s. “The Doodle Buggy gives our patients a way to express themselves, find joy and experience healing through creativity.”

The Doodle Buggy will bring joy, comfort, and creativity to kids in the hospital. It is especially helpful for those who have long stays or need ongoing treatment. Various types of colorful supplies pack the mobile art cart, including crayons, markers, sketch pads, glue sticks, pipe cleaners, waterc...

Please join us in congratulating Kim Longcake, NP, pediatric gastrointestinal nurse practitioner, for being honored with the 2025 Montana Medical Association Award of Merit!

Established in 1975, the Award of Merit recognizes individuals whose efforts have significantly improved health care in Montana. Kim was honored for her advocacy and dedication to enhancing children's access to care statewide.

Kim has been a part of the Logan Health Children's team since 2016, and she cares for pediatric patients at Logan Health specialty clinics in Helena and Great Falls.

October is Safe Sleep Month, a time to remind parents and caregivers about the importance of creating a safe sleep environment for babies. Every nap and bedtime is a chance to practice safe sleep. Together, we can help all babies sleep safely.

Attention parents, caregivers, and drivers! Montana’s child passenger safety laws just underwent an important upgrade. As of October 1, new requirements under HB 586 are in effect to better protect our children in vehicles.

Key Changes You Need to Know:
• Children under age 2 must ride in a rear-facing car seat with an internal harness.
• Children ages 2 to 4 can use rear- or forward-facing car seats.
• Kids ages 4 to 8 must be secured in a forward-facing seat or booster with a lap-shoulder belt.
• Only children age 9 or older, or those who exceed car seat height/weight limits, may use the adult seat belt alone.
