We get questions all the time about 𝙎𝙒𝙀𝘼𝙏𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙇𝙀𝙂𝙎

Sweating a horse’s leg is a common management and therapeutic practice, especially in performance horses. Its purpose is to reduce inflammation, swelling, and fluid accumulation in the lower limb and to support healing after work or injury.

The lower legs of horses have very little muscle and poor natural circulation, relying heavily on movement to push fluid back up the limb. After exercise, injury, or prolonged standing, fluid can pool in the tissues, leading to swelling (stocking up) and delayed recovery.

Sweating helps artificially stimulate fluid movement when natural circulation is limited.

1. Draws Out Excess Fluid
• Sweating agents (some of our favorites, Cherry Leg Sweat (RX) or Stay Tight Plus DMSO) create an osmotic effect
• This pulls excess fluid from the tissues

Numbers 🔢*️⃣

Some ask, some don’t want to know, Some only want to know if I think there’s a 🚩 The Acuscope is one of the only modalities on the market that takes Bio Feedback digital readings of the cellular activity. In a short version, I always compare it to grading a test; 100= A+ ,50s and lower, we are failing.

Your horses first treatment is going to be a mess of numbers. When a horses body isn’t balanced, we pick up on lower readings due to over compensating or simply just the body being stagnant for so long. About the 3rd treatment we can get down to business on whether or not a specific area needs to be addressed directly or differently.

*️⃣ Biofeedback- The ability to read the resistance in the tissues to pinpoint areas of cellular disfunction but the Acuscope uses these “readings” to perform the perfect treatment constantly reading, calculating, adjusting, and treating the entire time.

What can alter my readings?
- Anti- inflammatories
- How much or how little your horse moves
- If they’re due to be shod or were just shod
- Shockwave or other modalities

Example- The horses that make consecutive runs in a row will typically start on some form of anti- inflammatory medication. Their readings will start off stellar because of it, or should. By the 3rd run they’ll either stay good or drop off. In the cases they drop off on these meds, you know you have a problem. If they still read low through all those meds from the start, we have 🚩 through the whole duration. But also knowing your horses weaknesses before said event, Is a huge help!

How many sessions or when is best? Well that’s entirely up to your feel and your horse 👏🏼
