One of Melanie Davis Boling primary midwife assistants is the incredible Katie Rancer who's a powerhouse of knowledge and support with her incredible background as a doula! They're the fantastic duo!

AND we're continuously being blessed to be able to partner with Rachel Pryor who brings such a unique training knowledge to her doula clients with The Body Ready Method!

Thanks be to God for this caring and experienced team to support this first time warrior and dad to welcome their newborn baby boy into the world!

When you get to call the people you work with, not only your colleagues, but your sisters in faith and friends, it makes it all the more special! As always, it's incredible to have Marcia White Jankee as our Midwife Assistant last night by our side. Her depth of knowledge never fails to make every birth experience sweeter!

I wanted to really highlight the monumental event that happened in the wee hours of the morning! My dear friend Sarah Clements .clem09 was finally able to join us for the first time as a birth assistant since starting New Eden! 🎆🎆🎆

She brings such a depth full of experience and knowledge, being a rare unicorn herself, of a Labor & Delivery nurse who felt the calling many years ago to specialize in out of hospital birth! So much so, that before I even started New Eden, I came to her and needed her faith to join with mine to confirm the calling for the dream God gave me!

She's blessed to be a stay at home mom which usually excludes her from being able to spontaneously rush to a birth. BUT she has been SOOOOO instrumental in helping with postpartum visits and procedures. Postpartum visits are her sweet spot and she has a special calling for them. Clients are always so impressed with the care she gives!

It's such a blessing to be able to attend and give the space and support a couple needs to have a redemptive and healing home birth with their second child after a heavily medicalized and stressful hospital experience from the first child!

This was the first time getting to have the awesome Kati McCutheon attend as the midwife assistant, and she shined with her foundation as a doula to give this mom the extra special emotional and physical support she needed to carry her through her birth journey!

Thank you, God, for a beautiful home birth for a first-time mom this morning! Such a classic story of victory and triumph, even when she felt like she couldn't, she DID!

Of course, we Birthworkers know the moms feeling that way is usually the sign that birth is right around the corner, and it was! Praise the Lord she kept pushing through!

It is always a pleasure to have Marcia Jankee by my side to make such a wonderful birth team! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

With over 400 births over my career, I've never had an en caul birth where the baby is born with its bag of water intact. That is until TODAY! En caul happens once every 80,000 births, it's estimated!

Now, to be fair, when I was in the hospital system and active management of labor was the expectation, rupturing the membranes (breaking the bag of water) was the norm and explicitly stated management plan prior to birth, if it didn't happen on it's own. So, of course, en caul births are therefore extremely rare! But when true physiologic and undisturbed birth occurs, I imagine we'd see it more often!

This baby was also so special, as she was a surprise gender for the parents. The first 3 children are all boys, but this little princess was a perfect and lovely surprise to be the first girl of the family!

The wonder of how majestically God designed every aspect of birth and women’s bodies still blows me away, even after all of these years! It's breathtaking His work!

This third time mom shares her triumphal testimony of how she overcame fear and her journey to fully surrender to God, prompted by prayer of her birth team of her husband, her New Eden midwife Melanie Davis Boling and her phenomenal doula/midwife assistant Katie Rancer followed by the rapid birth of her beautiful daughter!

He doesn't promise every step will be easy in any area of life, but He does promise to never leave us nor forsake us, and He always causes us to overcome in His strength and power!

Sometimes, we'll get requests from potential clients to see if we can be paid just to come to the birth, since they'll be getting prenatal care at their OBGYN office. Usually, this is due to financial constraints, which is understandable. However often, sadly they just don't really get the heart and value of having your own personal midwife throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Sometimes, they just want someone to be there in case of an emergency.

We do not do "just" baby catching services for many reasons. The most important reason is that it actually increases safety risks. The bond between a mama and her midwife is sacred. The mother needs to be able to trust us implicitly, AND we need to be able to trust her just as much! We should be so close that we know what the most minute change in the gaze of the mother means. We should be able to read her without question, AND they should be able to look at our eyes and feel safe and secure without question. They should know that if the gaze of our eyes become concerning, then they trust us enough to pay attention to that warning look.

Not every mother & midwife dynamic will always give way to spontaneous bursts of affection like this photo. But they often do!

When Carly arrived at his mom's labor, she was bursting with loving pride and couldn't help but kiss the top of her head! (don't worry as this mom shared this photo on her own accord)

This is the substance of the intangibles that fill our hearts with love and excitement to walk in the ministry and calling of the Midwife!

We have a wide array of awesome assistants and nurses that cover us all throughout our vast areas of service, but once in a while Melanie Davis Boling & Carly Waller get the chance to be there for each other's birth, if others aren't available. Trust, it is always a true pleasure to have both midwives side by side supporting each other! Combined, we have over 50 years experience in the Women's Health world, so we're the dynamic duo for sure! Our own version of Shiphrah & Puah 😍 Thank you Brenna Huffman for rounding us out in the fantastic birth team that night!
