It’s Tuesay, November 4th, and now that Halloween has passed and Candy Day is near, we have chosen to find a middle ground with all the “National Day” observances and enjoy homemade s’mores in an unconventional yet tasty way. Can we not have a delightful and delicious day without labeling it a national day?

“Grow a Mustache Day” on November 1st kicked off a month of no-shave fun—celebrating the art of growing facial hair!

Don’t worry, ladies! It’s all for a great cause—raising awareness for men’s health issues. Some of our women even joined in by sporting bright, colorful, or fuzzy mustaches (which, thankfully, fell off soon after the photos!).

And a few of our gentlemen proudly declared, “I’ve already got a head start on this!”

You’ve got to love what our residents will do to have fun—even when the activity director takes the day off!

Big Elm Retirement Center had a fang-tastic time today. These creatures of the night like to get their fang on. And it's go big or gourd home, that's for sure! I heard one Frankenstein say, “I didn't want to play it safe with a skeleton costume. I want people to know I have guts.”

The truth of it is, no matter what costumes they wear, when the Halloween candy comes out, everyone is a little vampire! I hope these Halloween puns don't drive you batty. Keep calm and pumpkin on. Here's to hoping you had a smashing Halloween. WE DID!

I was taking a brief coffin break and observed an unusual sight upon entering Big Elm Rehabilitation & Living Center. Specifically, I saw dinosaurs, roosters, and more. I decided to stop and acknowledged my gratitude for the permitted broom parking. Although I saw Axl Rose rocking and a butterfly flying, I sensed the eerie atmosphere and exclaimed, 'You've ghost to be kidding me!' At that moment, a pumpkin took my hand and said, 'No tricks, just treats, so let's give them pumpkin to talk about!' What can I say? Ghouls just want to have fun.
