The pressure to create a picture perfect holiday season is real - especially when you’re juicing family expectations, routines, mental load, and everything else that comes with this time of year.

But meaningful doesn’t come from matching pajamas, flawless, plans, getting everything “just right.” Meaningful comes from presence, connection, and giving yourself permission to show up as you are.

If this season feels heavy, overwhelming, or complicated, you’re not alone. You’re allowed to slow down, make choices that support your well-being, and define what meaningful looks like for you - regardless of how it has looked in the past.

And while you may have some people in your life who won’t get it, the most important thing is that you do.

The holidays can be full of bright lights, cozy, moments, and a lot of hidden overwhelm. Especially if you have an ADHD brain. The shift and routines, sensory overload, and endless to do list that come with this time of year can feel extra hard.

One small tip you could try: keeping an anchor habit, even if your day is going to look different than it normally would. That could be starting your morning with your same cup of coffee, going out for a quick walk, or doing some kind of mindful activity before grabbing your phone. Small consistency goes a long way when everything else feels unpredictable.

Looking for a therapist that can help you create some structure of the season without losing everything you love about the holidays? Schedule a free intro through the link in our bio to get started.

You’ve spent years being the one who keeps everything running - the reliable one, the go-to, the person everyone can count on.

But that level of responsibility comes at a cost to your nervous system.

When you’re constantly scanning for what needs to be done, anticipating others’ needs, and jumping in before you even pause to ask if you want to, your body never really gets a break.

These small shifts aren’t about being less capable. They’re about letting your nervous system know you’re safe even when you’re not fixing, managing, or helping.
Because you deserve to feel calm and competent, not just useful. 💛

✨ If you’re ready to stop running on empty, our therapists help people pleasers and high-functioning professionals build lives that feel sustainable. Schedule a free intro call through the link in our bio.

There are so many myths about ADHD and a lot of them keep people from getting the help they need.

Let’s clear a few up:

💭 Myth: you can’t have ADHD if you did well in school
Reality: many people with ADHD over compensate by becoming perfectionists, staying up late, over preparing, and burning out trying to “keep up”

💭 Myth: ADHD is just about focus
Reality: it’s really so much more, but when it comes to focus it’s actually about regulating attention - many people can focus on things that feel interesting, but struggle to direct focus on tasks that feel tedious

💭 Myth: ADHD is over-diagnosed
Reality: it’s often misunderstood - especially in women, people of color, and high achieving adults whose symptoms don’t fit the stereotype

Understand understanding how ADHD actually shows up, helps people find compassion, tools, and understanding for themselves.

If you’re wondering whether ADHD might be impacting you or someone you love and live in KS or MO, we can help.

When people think of depression, they usually picture someone who’s sad, withdrawn, and tearful. But for many people, especially men that’s not how it shows up.

Instead, it can look like:

➡️ irritability or anger that feels impossible to control
➡️ throwing themselves into work or staying constantly busy
➡️ turning to alcohol, food, substances, or even scrolling to numb out
➡️ physical symptoms, like headaches, back pain, or fat teeth that doesn’t go away

This is often called covert depression, and it gets missed all the time. Especially because people who are struggling with depression that shows up like this often don’t know that is what is going on.

You couple that with the societal norms around men being taught from a young age too “tough it out,” to solve problems quietly, or to hide emotions that might be seen as weak - it makes sense that many men go without getting the support they could really benefit from.

So this is a reminder that depression doesn’t always look like sadness. Sometimes it looks like the person who never slows down, the one who seems fine, or the one who keeps everyone else laughing.

Using timers can be a super helpful tool if you struggle to focus.

Sometimes breaking things down into chunks or committing to just 20 minutes on a task can really help to stay focused on the task at hand. Oftentimes one of the biggest barriers to getting tasks done is focusing on the entire thing and feeling overwhelmed. By committing to working on a project, chores, or even your favorite hobby for a certain amount of time it can feel a lot less overwhelming.

We love the , but even just old school phone timers can be super helpful.

Have you ever tried using timers to help with focus?

Vitamin D deficiency, is something that is very common, and is associated with:

• increased risk of depression
• low energy
• increased pain
• increased risk of anxiety
• and other physical health concerns

This is a common vitamin we encourage clients to get checked because it greatly impacts mental health.

If you want to add in vitamin D rich foods to your day, salmon and egg yolks are a great source. They have the added benefit of having other mood boosting vitamins and minerals.

For folks that struggle with a significant deficiency most medical providers recommend a supplement. If you are struggling with low energy or a mood disorder it may be worth getting your levels checked.

How are you taking care of yourself today?

Perhaps it is saying no to a last minute work deadline that will keep you late. Maybe it is ordering food from your favorite restaurant for lunch. It could be taking a minute to rub your favorite lotion on your hands and give yourself a mini hand massage when you notice you are feeling overwhelmed.

There is no right way to practice self-care. Choose something today that helps to fill your cup back up. Sometimes even the smallest intentional acts of self-care can make all the difference.

Some anxiety is helpful. Too much can be overwhelming. You can help support your body to naturally keep anxiety at bay with these 3 tips:

+ Keep blood sugar stable: when your blood sugar drops your body perceives it as a stressor and activates a stress response. The response in your body can feel like anxiety and/or a panic attack.

+ Add in healthy fats and proteins: which can actually help keep blood sugar stable. It also helps give your body the proper nutrition in order to make serotonin and other hormones responsible for regulating our mood. Getting in plenty of good fats has been supported in research to help reduce symptoms of anxiety.

+ Stay hydrated: even mild dehydration can impact mood, including anxiety. Several studies support that staying hydrated correlated to lower levels of anxiety (and depression).

Will doing these three things take away anxiety? Probably not, but they can be powerful tools to help reduce it and if they don't, the worst thing that will happen is that you are giving your body a little extra water and Omega-3's - so it's a win/win.

What one thing can you add in this week to help support your mental health?
