Mark Dupree shared that before his father left for a mission trip to Africa, he stood in front of the entire church and announced that if anything happened he wanted Mark to become the next senior pastor. Six months later his father passed. Moments like that make you stop and ask did he sense something we could not see or was he preparing his house for what God was already setting in motion.
It took me straight back to something my mom told me. New levels bring new devils. When God elevates you into certain spaces you do not just carry your own load. You carry your family. You carry your calling. And you carry the weight of the community you were assigned to serve. That kind of responsibility comes with pressure but it also comes with purpose.

I sat down with Mayor Quinton Lucas to talk about something people do not always see. The vulnerability. The pressure. The reality of being a public figure in a world where political disagreements can turn dangerous.

Despite our political affiliations there should never be a moment where someone’s life is put at risk because of their views. Lucas had to create safety nets around his family just to make sure they are never on the other end of that darkness.

This conversation is bigger than politics. It is about humanity. It is about protecting the people we love. It is about remembering that leadership comes with a cost that most folks never see.

Titus Golden sat on the couch and dropped the kind of truth most people are scared to say out loud. If we are made in Christ image then why do we fight to carry our struggles in silence. Titus said it plainly. It is selfish to walk through life and never share the trials and tribulations that shaped you. Somebody needs your story. Somebody is waiting on your testimony. And this is why we saved this clip for last.

Sitting with your favorite cousin from Hot 103 Jamz! reminded me why these conversations matter. Shoutout to Hot 103 Jams and Deona Hustle for showing real love to the Let’s Talk Shop KC Podcast “Forged for More” Mentoring Program at Paseo Academy, part of the KC Public School District.

“Forged for More” teaches students the full art of podcasting. The goal is for them to run the cameras, film, lead the conversations, and help edit the final product. On top of that, they’re learning leadership, communication, and real world skills most kids never get exposed to.

Please stay locked in because the Instagram posts and stories from this program are coming very soon. 🔥🔥🔥

In my conversation with DaJah from Stateline, we talked about not letting society define what happiness should look like. I’ve lived it myself. The world has a way of trying to box you in, and if you don’t fit what they expect, they try to name it for you. My story is proof that being different doesn’t mean broken—it means purpose.

As a father raising kids who walk their own paths, I’ve learned that love doesn’t come with conditions. Everyone deserves the freedom to be who God created them to be, without labels or limits. This isn’t about judgment, it’s about freedom, grace, and understanding.

🎬 Why did Lil Meech have to go to acting school when his dad IS BMF? You’d think 50 Cent would just hand him the role, right? 👀 But that’s the point — real success can’t be gifted, it has to be earned.

Chuck Brown always says you can spot a trained actor a mile away. 🎭 If you’re serious about your craft, get that training. It’s the difference between being in the scene… and owning it.

Petey McGee opens up about his story being left at the hospital after birth because his mother didn’t want any more kids. Born when she was 36, Petey grew up battling the quiet sting of abandonment and the absence of affection. Yet, through faith and perseverance, he transformed pain into purpose. From feeling unwanted to becoming a proud Paseo Academy graduate and community voice, his story reminds us that rejection can’t stop destiny.

I sat down with Gerald Huston, aka Hubie, from Stateline to bring a little laughter to your day. He joked about how before puberty he thought he sounded like Michael Jackson and had to remix his dreams once reality hit 😆 Sometimes it’s good to just laugh and enjoy the moment.

DaJah Garrett stayed at Mizzou but switched her major from veterinary medicine to theatre, choosing passion over expectation. You can see that decision come alive in Stateline—bold, authentic, and full of purpose. When you bet on yourself, you never lose.

Kansas City creative Chuck Brown stepped into the producer role for State Line, a powerful short film about risk, belief, and trusting your own vision. This isn’t just a project — it’s a reminder that your ideas are worth investing in.

Tap in with State Line and show love to a homegrown producer putting Kansas City storytelling on the map.
