Stop āœ‹ the hangry!!!!

By increasing the amount of *quality* food we eat, not only will we achieve greater physical results but also WE WILL FEEL SO MUCH BETTER.

I’m not talking about just throwing whatever food you’re craving in your mouth though. This is consistent, disciplined eating of the type of food that also helps us feel good.

Which is it?! šŸ¤”

Anxiety is a topic close to my heart because it’s something I struggled with pretty badly a few years back.

And while the solution isn’t this simple for everyone, for ME? It was a matter of not eating enough.

My blood sugar would drop every day which caused me to feel those anxious emotions. Then my head would spiral because I feel uncomfortable in my body — brain foggy, dizzy, strong heartbeats, short breath — and the anxiety about how my body felt increased and perpetuated those sensations.

So then because I was uncomfortable in my body from feeling anxious… I wasn’t hungry. So I wasn’t really eating.

šŸ” Cue the cycle on repeat šŸ”

The not eating enough had my blood sugar SUPER unstable. So my body was trying to tell me ā€œHey there! Hello šŸ‘‹ we need some fuel in here!ā€ but instead I read those bodily signals as discomfort, panic, and stress.

When I actually would eat, I craved lots of carbs and starches because that’s the quickest energy form for the body. But it also doesn’t last long… which can make your body feel hungry faster. So again, I was always perpetuating the cycle.

THIS is why I say not eating enough is a massive cause of anxiety, and one that I personally believe is not addressed enough in the mental health space.

Of course, I’m not a therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist. So please just take my thoughts and experiences with a grain of salt.

But perhaps, if you are also stuck on a regular anxious loop and don’t know why… Consider what you are eating (or aren’t eating!).

The relief may be in consuming more quality food more consistently.

And I can help with that part! šŸ‘‹

Send me a message to see how eating more can help you achieve your physical goals AND more peace in your life 🫶

Picture this:

It’s the year 2053. You’re on vacation with your family in Maui. Your kids (or grandkids… or both!) want to go do the infamous Stairway to Heaven hike…

But you literally can’t do it. You consider yourself in shape and go to the gym regularly, but you also constantly feel exhausted just from basic, everyday tasks. You know a hike like that would make you need to sleep for 2 days to recover.

So you miss out on an amazing opportunity, as well as making unforgettable memories with your family.

All because you’ve spent the last 30 years of your life in a crippling calorie deficit — hyper focused on how small you look in a bikini instead of fueling yourself to be strong.

And say you even achieve the ā€œsmallnessā€ you seek… would you think it’s worth it? šŸ¤”

These are the types of repercussions we need to be considering when choosing our current health and fitness goals.

Of course it’s never a bad thing to be in a ā€œcutā€ or want to lose body fat! BUT the constant hamster wheel of dieting and deficits is NOT the approach, nor something you should sustain.

It can wreck your body, and eventually your quality of life over time.

So what if we focused on building more muscle mass? Lifting heavy weights? Eating more food?

You don’t need to have a goal of being a body builder for this approach to be beneficial to you.

In fact — I believe the large majority of us (women!) could due to eat more food on a regular basis.

The muscle mass you build will not only help you age more strongly, but also probably help transform the way you look AND the way you view your body.

If you want to learn more about this concept, make sure you FOLLOW me and stay tuned for upcoming offers that will help you.

Want to know how I can guarantee when I’ve made the right decision for my life?

Self doubt creeps in. That imposter syndrome gets me. Things like:

ā€œWhat am I even doing?ā€
ā€œAm I good enough?ā€
ā€œI’ll probably quit this when it gets hard like everything elseā€
ā€œWho would care about what I’m doing?ā€
ā€œNothing will probably even changeā€

Those big leaps in life that scare me always make me question myself the most… and now I’ve learned that’s an opportunity to LEAN IN instead of walk away.

Our brains always want to keep us safe. So they convince us to stay right where we are because it’s familiar and predictable. Anything different is scary and potentially threatening… so our minds will always try to fight change.

But by recognizing this, we can learn when it’s *actually* time to push past our own boundaries into something new, despite what that story in our head is trying to tell us.

We have to crave the potential positive outcome far more than we want to stay the same.

So if there’s something you’ve been holding yourself back doing because of that negative soundtrack in your brain, take this as a sign to LEAN IN! Still choose to step forward into that unknown in spite of your self doubt.

You really will never know just how good things can be until you try 🫶

I shared in my stories back in November but for those who missed it — we are moving to the Kansas City metro area! My husband got an awesome opportunity to take the next step in his career goals.

We spent the past few days exploring the area (sans kiddos) and seeing what our future holds!

And dang… what a cool place we will get to call ā€œhomeā€ in just a few short months!!

Any anxieties and fears that have been looming about this upcoming chapter were dissipated by the warmth and welcome of all the amazing people we encountered! There really is such thing as Midwest charm. Not to mention endless new sights to see, restaurants to try, and places to adventure.

Plus my dad has been a lifelong Chiefs fan after growing up in Kansas, so this was the final puzzle piece that helped me to hop on that bandwagon and officially call myself a Chiefs fan šŸ˜

Now I have to make the not-at-all cliche Kansas joke…

ā€œThere’s no place like home!ā€ ā¤ļøšŸ’›šŸ¤

Cheers to our next chapter!

Happy last month of 2022! šŸŽ„

With the holiday season comes lots of emotions — ranging anywhere from immense joy and excitement, to depression, shame, and frustration.

Often we place expectations on how we believe the holidays SHOULD be, or how the year SHOULD end, and if that falls short we spiral through until the new year begins.

It’s these expectations and ā€œshouldsā€ that cause is much more grief than necessary.

What if instead of focusing on the expectations we may have, we shift that focus to simply doing our best no matter the circumstances.

When you can truly look back on every chapter of life, every moment, and know deep in your heart that you did your very best? You begin to build an excellent rapport with yourself. You slowly stop beating yourself up. You give yourself grace and patience.

āž”ļø Don’t have the money you want to spend on gifts? Do your best. Buy what you can afford. Maybe spend your time instead of your money.

āž”ļø Aren’t making it to the gym as much as you’d like? Do your best. Two times is better than 0. Get in movement in other ways. Go for walks. Do squat challenges at home.

āž”ļø Tempted by and indulging in too many treats? Do your best. Enjoy them, then find a way to get protein and color at your next meal or snack.

āž”ļø Not getting the promotion, bonus, or more biz like you’d hoped at your job/business? Do your best. Address what isn’t working. Seek extra feedback. Make a solid future plan to execute.

āž”ļø Family isn’t getting along or kids or a total nightmare? Do your best. Search for even the smallest things you can be grateful for. Set boundaries. Pour out your love anyway.

There will always be a time where circumstances won’t be like we’d hoped. Luckily we have the control over how we respond. & we can ALWAYS choose to do our very best even when it’s hard.

You are strong. You are capable. You are worthy of a beautiful life, and it all begins with your own mind, perspective, and effort.

Wishing you all a wonderful December and holiday season ahead! ā¤ļø

A little (okay long-ish) story about following your heart:

I’ll admit it’s a bit silly but to anyone who really knows me, this is so amazing.

Lots have asked me ā€œwhy Portugal?ā€ when telling of our next vacation. We don’t speak Portuguese, have any family there, and much of it’s history and monuments aren’t super ā€œmainstreamā€.

Yet for some reason, it’s somewhere I’ve ALWAYS wanted to go. For years if people would ask me what my first country I want to visit in Europe is, I would answer Portugal.

It was a point of contention for a bit with my husband Tim because I would always bring it up as a suggestion, but he had zero interest in going. For some reason one day, I convinced him and the planning began.

Among the process and lead up, I learned of something called ā€œastrocartographyā€ — basically your astrological chart is translated to a map, and based on where the planets align it tells you how various locations throughout the world will impact you and your life.

In my chart, my Venus line goes directly through Lisbon, Portugal, which means ā€œthis is where your heart lies, it can generally represent somewhere you are fond of and will always hold a special place for you.ā€

And let me tell you — this entire trip has felt exactly that way for me 🄹

Aside from pure happiness, the best way to explain it is having a deep longing and nostalgia for this place. Like it’s my favorite place on earth with zero immediate reason why. It just IS. The feeling is there.

But it’s been so cool to see how following my heart here was no mistake. And even though it didn’t always make sense, and especially might not make sense to other people, it’s real for me and that makes the experience even more magical and rewarding.

What an incredible metaphor for life that I will take with me forever šŸ¤

If your heart is leading you somewhere (a new goal, new place, person, job, school, etc.), it’s there for a reason!
