🎉 Celebrating Jerry G.’s 100-Donation Milestone! (…on donation #103, because he just couldn’t wait to keep helping!)

We celebrated Jerry with balloons, cake, and a whole lot of thanks from our team. Jerry said he's always aimed to be a consistent donor, pausing only for a few years for health reasons. After losing more than 170 pounds, Jerry is back to giving regularly — and feeling stronger than ever.

He says he often thinks about everyone he’s been able to help over the years, and nothing motivates him more than imagining the impact on families just like his own. He especially loves spending time with his granddaughter, who inspires him to keep paying it forward.

Meet father–daughter donor duo Mark and Saoirse — back in the donor center to save lives together. ❤️

When asked what’s best about donating as a family, Mark said, “Still the snacks!”
Saoirse added, “It’s family time! It’s our father–daughter date. We go out to dinner after… and also, the snacks.”

When Michelle’s son was born, he faced a frightening battle with RSV and needed two blood transfusions to recover. Thanks to generous donors, he received the lifesaving blood he needed — today, he’s a happy, healthy 3-year-old with a big sister by his side. 🩸💪

Now, Michelle donates blood with her mother and brother as their way of paying it forward to other families going through tough times.

Founded in 1958, Community Blood Center (CBC) serves hospitals in the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area, as well as eastern Kansas and western Missouri. CBC provides nearly 200,000 blood products per year to over 60 area hospitals and relies on volunteer donors each day to meet the need for lifesaving gifts of blood. CBC operates 365/24/7 to deliver safe, high quality products to meet transfusion needs for routine care and emergencies.
