Did you know that in Jackson County, more than half of public school students are students of color (MO DESE, 2024), and 1 in 5 kids lives below the poverty line (U.S. Census Bureau, 2023)?

Our community is full of diversity—and that means supporting our kids can’t be one-size-fits-all.

The Children’s Services Fund makes sure we support organizations that truly understand and represent the cultures, languages, and experiences of the kids they serve. That’s how trust is built and how lasting impact happens.

We fund for equity. We fund for community. We fund for all .

At the Children’s Services Fund, we know that creating real impact for kids takes teamwork. That’s why we’re proud to partner with incredible organizations across our community.

This year, we’ve seen what’s possible when we come together:
🤝 Joint school-based mental health programs
🎨 Co-hosted family wellness events
🧩 Coordinated referral systems that close gaps in care

The CSF acts as a connector, helping turn shared goals into stronger systems of support. When we collaborate, children thrive and so does our entire community.

Halloween should be full of fun, not fear. That means making sure every child feels safe, included and cared for, whether they’re trick-or-treating, joining school parties or just enjoying the day with family.

Here are a few ways we can make Halloween brighter for ALL kids:
✨ Carry a flashlight or glow sticks to stay visible.
✨ Offer allergy-friendly or non-food treats for kids with dietary restrictions.
✨ Be patient with children who may participate differently—every child celebrates in their own way.
✨ Keep emotional well-being in mind: big crowds or loud noises can be overwhelming.

Together, we can make Halloween not only safe, but joyful and inclusive, giving every child a chance to make happy memories. 💙

At the Children’s Services Fund, we don’t just look at numbers. We listen to the people in our community.

When local partners and families tell us about long waitlists, staffing challenges, and other hurdles, we hear them. Their feedback helps us shape how we fund programs to remove barriers and reach more kids.

Our job is to stay responsive not just to data, but to real-life experiences.

Supporting means growing and changing as their needs change too.

It’s hard for students to thrive in the classroom when their needs outside the classroom aren’t being met—mentally, emotionally, and beyond. That’s why we’re excited to spotlight Brookside Charter School, one of our funded partners who is making a big impact on students right here in Jackson County. Check out our latest blog to learn more about their approach, their impact, and the amazing things they’re doing to support students in our community.

Bullying can leave lasting scars but it doesn’t have to define a child’s future. This Bullying Prevention Month, we’re honored to spotlight the Center for Conflict Resolution (CCR) and the ways they’re changing that story by teaching young people how to resolve conflict with empathy, respect and understanding.

Instead of just reacting to bullying, CCR works to prevent it by giving kids the tools to listen, communicate and build stronger relationships. Their work creates classrooms and communities where every child feels safe, included and valued. 🌟

We’re honored to partner with CCR in this important mission. Together, we’re not just stopping bullying, we’re helping kids grow up with the confidence and hope they need to thrive.

Bullying can leave deep wounds, impacting a child’s confidence, relationships, and mental health for years to come. No child should carry that weight.

At the Children’s Services Fund, we believe every child in Jackson County deserves to feel safe, supported and valued. That’s why we invest in programs that build safe spaces, teach empathy and remind kids that their voices and experiences matter. 💙

Jackson County is home to over 170,000 kids under age 18. But access to care still depends too much on which zip code they live in, what language they speak or their family income.

The Children’s Services Fund is focused on changing that.

We support smaller, trusted groups that serve communities often left out of bigger systems.

No child’s chance at emotional well-being should depend on their address. Every part of Jackson County deserves access. Every kid deserves care.
