Every feature inside OT Connected exists because I needed it first — and didn't have it.

Here's what I didn't say in the video: the order these tools appear isn't random. It's the exact order I wish someone had handed them to me on day one.

Because when you're building, you don't need more information. You need the right thing at the right time.

↳ Handout Builder → because polished client materials shouldn't require a design degree
↳ Community Board → because isolation was the hardest part, and building alone isn't a personality trait
↳ Practice Launch Roadmap → because "consider your options" is not a helpful step
↳ Opportunity Board → because PRN and project work shouldn't require ten different platforms to find
↳ Branding Settings → because you should look like a real practice from day one — because you are one
↳ CEU Library + Office Hours → because your growth shouldn't be held hostage to a webinar schedule
↳ AskSAMIE profile → because visibility should be built in, not built from scratch

If you've been Googling "how to start an OT business" for the fiftieth time, this was built for you.

I want to tell you why OT Connected exists.

When I started building my business, I didn't have a roadmap. I didn't have templates. I didn't have a community of OTs who understood what I was trying to do.

I had Google, a lot of trial and error, and the stubborn belief that OT should be referred and used more than the traditional system offers.

I had to figure everything out on my own. How do I get my first client, how can I scale that first client, and how to I maintain the impact.

OT Connected is the platform I wished existed when I was starting. It's the tools, the roadmap, the community, and the infrastructure all in one place — built by someone who gets it because I've lived it.

If you're ready to start building, come join us. It's free to sign up.

AI-powered client handouts, CEUs, knowledge base, practice launch tools, and community — everything an OT needs to build and grow their practice.

Can we be honest with you for a second?

We talk to OTs every single week who are some of the most skilled clinicians we've ever met.

They're brilliant. They're passionate. They genuinely change people's lives.

And they're miserable.

Not because they don't love OT.

They love OT more than almost anything. That's the problem. They love the work. They hate the system they have to do it in.

The productivity demands. The pay ceilings. The paperwork that follows them home every night.

And every time they think about making a change — starting a practice, going cash pay, picking up contract work — they run into a wall of credentialing, billing, compliance, and "where do I even start?"

We know that feeling. We've been there.

And we've been building something for us all.

For clinicians who want to practice OT the way we were trained to — with the freedom, the tools, and the infrastructure to actually do it.

I'm sharing more this week. If this resonates, hit that follow button.

Eat More With One Simple Swap? The Surprising Power of a Red Plate ❤️🍽️

Mealtimes can become challenging for people living with dementia—but sometimes the solution is surprisingly simple. In this clip, we share a research-backed tip: serving food on a red plate can increase intake by up to 30%.

Why? Contrast. Most foods aren’t bright red, so a red plate clearly defines where the plate ends and the food begins. That visual clarity makes it easier for the brain to interpret what’s on the table. The bold color also grabs attention, helping reduce distraction and encouraging focus on eating.

It’s a small, affordable change that can make a meaningful difference in nutrition, independence, and dignity. Sometimes better caregiving isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing things differently.

Big Impact, Small Changes: The Secret to a Safer Home

Home safety isn’t about spending thousands—it’s about making the right changes. In this clip, we highlight how occupational therapists (OTs) approach home modifications with creativity, often working with little to no budget.

While major upgrades like stair lifts can be helpful, they’re not always necessary. Sometimes, small adjustments and simple recommendations can significantly improve safety, independence, and daily function.

The goal isn’t perfection—it’s reducing risk and making everyday life easier in a way that works for you.

Our patients need to stay connected, be part of a community, and we help them contine to do the things that matter most.

But here’s the shift many people struggle with: maintaining quality of life doesn’t mean doing everything the same way you always have—or doing it all on your own.

In fact, it often means the opposite. It means being open to change, accepting support, and finding new ways to stay engaged in what you love. Letting go of “how it’s always been” can actually open the door to more connection, safety, and fulfillment.

When you focus on the bigger picture—what truly makes life meaningful—it becomes easier to adapt without fear. Because it’s not about holding onto one way of doing things… it’s about holding onto what matters most.

🐾 Love Your Pet? Add a Bell.

No one is getting rid of their pets. Let’s be clear about that.

But people do trip over them. Especially the small ones.

When pets get underfoot—particularly if you have changes in vision or hearing—it’s easy to miss them. They move quickly. They’re quiet. And if you’re not actively looking down, you may not realize they’re right behind you until it’s too late.

Here’s a simple, low-cost fix:
Put a bell on their collar.

That tiny sound adds an extra layer of awareness. You’ll hear them approaching, crossing behind you, or walking into your path. That split second of notice gives you time to pause, step aside, or gently guide them out of the way.

It’s not about changing your home. It’s not about changing your pet.
It’s about adding one small safety layer that can prevent a major fall.

Simple. Affordable. Effective.

Think Your Shower Is Too Small for a Shower Chair? Think Again 🚿

One of the most common concerns we hear: “My shower isn’t big enough for a shower chair.”

In reality, very few showers truly can’t accommodate some type of seat. Shower chairs come in a wide range of sizes and designs. While models with arms and backs provide extra support, there are also compact, sturdy options without those features that fit neatly against the back wall of smaller showers.

The key is finding the right chair for your body and your space.

And if space is extremely limited? A fold-down shower seat can be a game-changer. These seats mount to the wall and stay folded up most of the time. When you need to rest, simply flip it down and sit safely.

Planning ahead with the right setup helps conserve energy, reduce fall risk, and make bathing safer—without sacrificing space.
