Do you remember the days when you were gradually killing yourself?

Remember...?

Daily hangovers.
Drunken fights.
2 am anxiety.
Alcohol-induced puking.
Embarrassing outburst.
Panic attacks.
Feeling sluggish
Cloudy memory.
Not knowing how you got home. And a lot more.

Versus:

No hangover in the morning.
Calm predisposition.
Aware of yourself all the time.
Being able to appreciate the sound of nature in the morning.
Save money.
Better communication with family.
SAYING NO to alcohol - ALL THE TIME.
Not edgy, not grumpy… simply sober.

The list goes on.

Which side are you counting?

Be sure to take the side that will give you your life back.

“I live an alcohol-free life.”

Sounds magical, doesn’t it?

But you won’t feel that in an instant.

There’s this feeling of uncertainty when you try to let go of the one thing that you’ve kept so close for so long.

You’ll feel unsure every time you tell people that you’re not going to drink again.

You even feel unsure about whether you can keep promises you make to yourself.

But with each passing day of sobriety, you discover your capabilities. You itch less and less for that one shot.

Your conviction to stay on the path to sobriety gets stronger.

You begin to love the freedom that comes with breaking away from an obsession.

You love feeling good every time you wake up.

Now, it’s magical. :)

Cost of drinking:
-It has caused problems in your relationships.
-You feel depressed, anxious, and ashamed of yourself.
-It hinders how you perform your job and family responsibilities.

Costs of NOT drinking:
-You’d have to find a better way to deal with problems.
-You’d lose your drinking buddies.

Is drinking worth the cost?

Once you had a perfect relationship. You had somebody who’s always there to support your dreams. But addiction to alcohol made you lose that person.

That was a long time ago. You’re clean now.

Every now and then, you still think of that perfect relationship you once had.

A lot of “what if’s” running through your mind.

What if you stopped when you were asked to? What if you listened and went to rehab right away?

Sometimes, you can’t have people back. The closure is not guaranteed.

Sometimes, you will not completely heal from your past. But that doesn’t mean you can’t go on and live your life to the fullest.

Take it upon yourself to break the cycle.

Choose to understand when you are judged.

Choose to accept when you are rejected.

Choose compassion when you are shamed.

Choose to heal so that all you do will come from your heart.

Recovery may be tough, but it will only make you better and stronger than what broke you.

Strong enough to share your story of how you overcame what you went through.

And then YOU become the help you badly needed when you’re hurting.

One day, your story will be someone else’s survival guide.

How long have you stayed clean?

Change is constant in life.

If you keep doing habits that make things worse in your life, you’ll lose a battle you’ve already lost once.

Abandon the regrets from the past, abandon the sense of failure. Don’t let the shame of prior relapses dictate your future.

Making a change that will make your life better will bring you a bright future.

Beat that craving and WIN!

Choose the path that will lead you to a better future.

I dream of the day when a wine is no longer a currency.

What do you offer friends who helped you in any way?
Say, a recent move? A friend who watched your kids while you have that very important meeting? Or a family member you asked to do errands?

Pizza and beer for movers. Beautifully wrapped wine for your best friend or your sibling.

Showing gratitude is totally fine but please avoid giving alcohol as gifts.

An innocent gift might be the root of that one glass of escape from reality.

Offering food is good enough.

There are so many ways to show your appreciation.

Please stop making alcohol a currency.

Did you spend the night drinking with friends?

How many shots did you have until you said no? Not counting the shots, not counting how many nights in a row. And then you passed out.

Early morning, it’s a new day! Another miracle to see another day!

But you’re not in your right senses to appreciate another day. A hangover and a terrible headache may be clouding your mind.

It sucks, right? How long do you want to wake up like this?

No one can decide for you. You can change this today!

Addiction is a disease that a lot of people suffer from.

A family, a friend, a co-worker… It can be anybody.

If you are not suffering from it, then you are lucky.

Please know that those who suffer from addiction need help and encouragement for them to walk away from their dark past.

Please don’t judge them, understand instead.

Your kind words might convince them to seek the brighter side of life.

Guide them, show them the way. Until the day they would come to realize... it’s time.
