Carpal Tunnel and neck problems often-times come together. There is sometimes a "top-down" type of presentation that indicates a part of the pain coming from the neck. There is also a "bottom-up" type of presentation that may indicate that the nerve conduction from the wrist has caused problems in the neck. An example of this is "double crush syndrome" where the nerve is compressed at multiple sites in the pathway.

"Wellness" is a confusing term to many. It leaves the question of, "If I can't measure it, how will I know if it's working or how much value should I place on the service?"

Knowing that there are over 150 different types of headaches, this is a complex diagnosis that should be the responsibility of a specialist. Chiropractic care has been shown to reduce and sometimes even stop tension headaches and some cases of migrane headaches. We are non-invasive conservative care so that means that we can be a place to try before resorting to drugs or other interventions for relief.

This is a question that is often asked in our office and seems to have different answers depending on the professional who is asked. We tend to recommend using cold for more recent acute injuries and heat for older or more "age related" stiffness and discomfort. This is a general rule and not medical advice for a specific condition, of course.

Remember to MOVE! Stretching and moving about keeps the body healthy when the brain is focused in on the work. The body grows to shape itself depending on how we use it every day. Stiffness in the hamstrings, calves, and low back after sitting for extended periods is usually a sign that our body has adapted to that positioning and needs more movement.

Regardless of how much water is recommended or who you listen to, the underlying theme is still the same... Drink water! Drinking more water helps our body to have all the fluid it needs for healthy bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, discs, and blood. It also provides a way for us to rid our bodies of toxins and nasty byproducts of metabolism. Helpful hint: Drink more of your water in between meals instead of a bolus at mealtime so your stomach acids are not diluted too much. Also high carb and heavy starch meals will probably need more water to wash down the food.
