Sad story of a good Samaritan trying to help and ended up losing his life. Always ask the question, "Is it worth dying or going to jail for?" before taking action. In this case, maybe it was, but you have to ask the question and then be prepared for the outcome.

The top screw is what was originally in my mom's strike plate for the dead bolt on her front door. The bottom screw is what is there now. Please replace your strike plate screws with some that are 3-4" long. It will increase the force required to gain entry from approximately 2 kicks to closer to 13 at 3 times the force per kick. Hopefully, any intruder will get tired after a few kicks and leave. This will buy you time, and time buys you options.
